Up All Night v Bored to Death

As a CD-release single, as well as both being songs that would be used to define "new" blink, which do you feel you enjoyed more on release day? From excitement level, to song listenability, etc. - which single did you enjoy more?

I like Up All Night MUCH BETTER as a song
but I can't deny that Bored to Death is more radio friendly despite thinking its just okay.

It is truly a testament to how great Bored to Death is that I can say i prefer it.  Sure, in retrospect UAN is not even close to the best track on Neighborhoods, let alone a particularly great blink song, but it was Mark Tom and Travis together again after almost a decade. I blasted that song a billion times. Bored to Death is better.

I heard Up All Night and was such a wreck. I was excited for new blink but pretty disappointed with the song right off the bat. I loved this song from the start, the chorus hooked me and I really like it.

Listening to UAN for the first time was such a letdown, no passion from either singer and a mid-tempo beat was what I took from it on first glance - didn't translate well live either due to all the shitty guitar effects. I will say that BTD is definitely less progressive, but that was what Blink needed 7 years ago - the latter is a lot more enjoyable to listen to.

Nothing can top my excitement during that era and I still really enjoy UAN to this day.

So although I love Bored to Death, I have to vote UAN here.

I think both are about the same for me. Maybe UAN cause i was a bit younger and just so damn excited for new blink.

bored to death is way better. i didn't even have to think about this. i remember so many friends who were casual friends being confused as fuck by UAN, saying it sucked and didnt know they were back together. now, those same people are really digging BTD.

is it blink's best single? no. at times, it doesn't even really sound like a blink song. but neither did UAN. that was a shitty AVA bside

I'm listening right now to the isolated synth track for Up All Night, for the first time. Weird as hell. I never noticed it was a companion to the main riff of the intro too. The chorus part is nice though.

I voted Bored to death, i was more excited with UAN because it was the first blink song in a long time, and the hopes were very high, but i think BtD is a better song (even though im hoping for variety on the record)

Yeah that's what I'm saying. I was showing the song to a couple friends and had random people telling me they dug it and then being bummed out that they liked a new blink song. Got em.

UAN was the worst imaginable choice for a comeback single ever. it's a mess of a song, the lyrics are absolute shit, Tom sounds horrendous on it, and it goes nowhere. it's just weak

bored to death, while generic, is still more focused, catchy, and better-produced (somewhat overproduced actually). I appreciate the weirder elements of UAN but that song is just horrible. BTD takes the cake easily

What I love the most about Bored To Death is how Mark sounds on it. The chorus is fucking ace. He sounds focused, passionate, powerful. You can feel the excitement.
