  1. 1. Suppose Travis drops out of Blink for some reason, should Mark get another drummer and "keep the Blink legacy alive?"

I was thinking about this hypothetical situation. Should Mark continue under the Blink name if he is the only original band member left. (or would it become disrespectful to the band at that point)

I would say no (dont continue under Blink)

There are no original members. Scott and Tom formed the band. Mark came in, quit, and then came back, he is not original.

Yeah but they weren't called blink 182 at the time. So Mark is an original member of blink 182. He added the 182 ffs

Ok, you got me on a technicality there. Good one.

Mark is the original and only bassist for blink.

In response to this topic... It's kind of lame when bands continue with only 1 original member, but if that's what Mark wanted to do then all the power to him in my opinion.

Us die hards are probably the only ones who know Scott Raynor lol. Everyone probably thinks Travis is an original.

after much deliberation, i concluded - yes. in any case, blink-182 evolve over time, and another change never be surprised, but if we're talking about trav's case - i don't know how it will be without him. seriously, i always can imagine blink without delonge, and i think in that way band don't lose something after his quitting, but how it can be without the one and only TRAVIS BARKER - it's very hard to imagine, for me personally.  and also, no one knows whether the new band is worthy to call "blink-182"

keep legacy alive - yes

will it come right? - not a fact.

Yes, as long as there is an established member left with passion for the band, blink should always continue

Can any of us see a blink without hoppus? Or has he become the band?

Blink without Mark? So then it would be Travis + Matt + ??. Yeah that would be awkward, it wouldn't be Blink.

Or say Tom comes back and Travis and Tom decide marks lost it.

I can't see it either.   But I can't see it without Travis at this point either.

i have a feeling travis won't be able to continue into older age... he's already 40, and still drums like he's 25. the book talks about how doctors have told him he won't be able to go crazy on his kit for too many more years. so i think we'll definitely see another member sometime down the road.

i sometimes wonder what it'd be like getting scott back in, just for a cheshire/dude ranch anniversary tour or something. that'd almost certainly NEVER happen, but it'd be a sight to see

My thinking completely. The guy just goes HAM every night, and there's no doubt in my mind his health is going to catch up to him eventually. It sucks but it's just the nature of his playing style. I think the phasing out of his aerial drum solo is a sign of this. People around me at a couple shows were flipping out at the lack of a drum solo by Travis, but in the end, I think it's the best for his longevity.

Yeah, I agree with the Mark is blink182 thing. Tom is also blink182, if his heart was in it. I still see travis as blink182 as well but the band could go on without him, will that happen? Doubt it I bet he bangs on the drums till hes gray
