b00bies Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 seems like its going to be a really mellow album. i hope they didn't forget to write down some faster songs in this bitch. Quote
surfbro16 Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 Is it weird I prefer these acoustic verions over the originals? Quote
Melty Mark Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 I like Get Right acoustic a lot, I prefer the second in it's original form but still a nice touch fo sho 1 Quote
Melty Mark Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 You With Me is the best one that's come out and I really love it 1 Quote
radioactive tomdog Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 i'm kinda drunk but i appreciate your posts, beth Quote
_Kyle_ Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 I remember getting drunk and changing the name Jimmy Eat World to Jimmy Jam in my iPod and not remembering it. So for like a month I couldn't find Jimmy Eat World and was like "wtf, i must of accidentally deleted them or something". Month goes by and I finally just start looking in the album section and they're still there under this dumb title I gave it. 3 Quote
horchata Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Every time Jimmy puts out an album, you need to listen to it a couple times through. They're one of my favorite bands of all time, and each time I hear a new album, I feel a bit like "meh" - but after listening to it a few times, it's incredible. You with Me is a great song, and I'm sure the rest of the album will be incredible. They've yet to put out a bad album. Quote
Kay Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 I really wish I could get into these but I just can't. It's all been down hill since Futures. Chase This Light had some good songs but the general feel of the record was off, and every release since then has been just dull and disappointing. I imagine it's more me than them, but I can't enjoy these like I should be able to. like I've seen touches of the 'jimmy' I loved in each release (I Will Steal You Back, Anais) but for the most part it just passes me completely. Bummer to hear. I think Chase This Light is absolutely brilliant - one of my favorite records. 1 Quote

Don't get me wrong, I love a lot of that record. Gotta Be Somebody's Blues is one of my fave JEW songs ever. Here It Goes (which I love despite it being cheesy as hell), Always Be, there's some great songs on that record, but there's just so many that are just kind of 'meh' and some that could have been so much better. Aria Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 This album is so fucking amazing so far. Don't get what people who aren't liking it are hearing if they're fans of jew. 2 Quote

I'd say with some level of confidence that it's less of the catchy, more melancholy melodic type of music than previously. I mean, Authority Song? Bleed American? A Praise Chorus? Even Sweetness. They were capable of a big sound with better quality, and now it's like more depthy sound, kinda spacy, but mediocre melody and lyricism. It's not bad, but it's disappointing to me. You With Me is the closest I've come to what I like about JEW, but I love that song a lot. Quote
Aria Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 I think Bleed American was their biggest departure in terms of sound. It's one of my favorites, but part of me sort of wishes it could have been placed under a different name or something. Quote
Melty Mark Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 You Are Free is also very JEW to me. Sure and Certain I don't love, I like, Get Right, almost not at all. Quote
Cheerios4u98 Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 I'm with Aria, I love all of the new tracks. Can't wait for the album! Quote
