Ohh, we have another moderate edgelord in the building. My favorite!

You can't reasonably oppose what the NFL players did before that game. There are no "opposing views" or nuances. If you meltdown over a display like this, which had nothing to do with politics or the American flag, then you are a racist. Plain and simple. To pretend otherwise gives power to the scum. It enables them. They hide behind it.

See: Ben Shapiro

Lol, pretty sure I hold much more socialist and progressive views than you do.

I'm not really denying what you posted. I'm saying that if you want to actually have honest or genuine discussions about this, you're going about it in a terrible, condescending way.

I'm a bit late to this, but I get what you're trying to say...but the timing isn't great. Right now, there are very few events happening that are both: (a) live; (b) televised; and (c) draw international attention. It's a rare opportunity/platform to make a statement and take a stand against an issue that shouldn't even be an issue in 2020, yet here we are. People should be taking advantage of every platform they can to try to instill change and influence others.

You know, what, man? Thank you! I appreciate you not just automatically escalating to calling me a racist or someone who supports racial injustice.

My only point was that those people weren't booing racial equality and justice, they were booing the inclusion of it in the game. Social politics are everywhere these days and, after the turmoil of the last year, between covid and the protests and the non-stop Trump shit and the non-stop political divide and shit-slinging that's come along with the last 4 years, I think it's okay to be a little burnt out and just want some entertainment. To use a stupid example ... I love cheesecake, I will make myself sick on it but, you know, it's okay to not have it throw at me at every single opportunity. It's okay to just enjoy dinner without dessert even. Like I said, stupid example, but the point is not everything has to be steeped in ideology and politically charged sentiments. We all know shit sucks, that's not missed on anyone and this country, despite what you hear, isn't profoundly racist. It's okay to just appreciate a time out from it. So, while I absolutely support the player's right to kneel, link arms, protest, whatever they deem appropriate to do, I also support the right of fans to just be sick of it and voice that disdain without being labeled racists or hate mongers for it.

I've tried everything with these racists for years now. One time I was extra sincere with a close friend of mine and got ridiculed behind my back for it lol.

Being a condescending dick is at least fun. They don't deserve any better. It's not like you can change their minds. When you're that far down the path of ass hole, there is no coming back.

And you're pretty good at condescension yourself Casey

Yep, it's an area I could work on and I'm definitely not above denying it or making excuses. I don't think I purposefully misconstrue other people's views in an effort to make them look stupid, though (Oliver aside, that was mainly for the lols and a culmination of years of Oliver's bs). I've noticed you love to take someone's argument, boil it down to 1 stupid, misleading point, and then laugh at them...while ignoring 90% of the substance of what was posted. If anything, it ends up serving the opposite purpose, where people will take you less seriously in discussions because of your juvenile responses.

Definitely no angel, but I’m not here to win debate trophies either. Oliver was more than enough proof that you can’t change these peoples minds, may as well have fun with it

Eh that's one way of looking at it. It's also a great example of why politics are so volatile and polarized in the US right now. Most people no longer care enough to have a reasonable discussion on something and already have their minds made up before they've even heard the opposing view.

It's also a really convenient way to never give an honest opinion about anything and never lose an argument.

Freshly emboldened by a “voice of reason” and ready to spew more shit! It’s like a power-up for the alt-righter

That would be pretty cool tbh

I mean, if you bothered to update the material, sure but you don't, you just repeat the same handful of insults constantly, to the point of predictability. I mean, if it were just to me or something I would assume you just didn't care enough to bother but it's literally the same with everyone you argue with ... and not even in the political section, blink section too.

Jan does the same thing. Two people are talking and then you jump in the middle of it with some tired line about being alt-right or a Trump supporter or Tom Bot or whatever lame, try-hard thing you're on about for that day and it stops being fun for everyone. It's like hanging out with a little brother who's trying to be one of the cool kids. You're extinguishing the stoke.

My last post on this since it's so far from football now lol. I think it's partly based on outrage and cancel culture in wanting to take some petty moral high ground to make someone look bad. It's some of the lamest left wing tactics I've seen. In other words, insecure and soft dinks going on a douchey tirade.

Edit - just to be clear, this is in regards to discussion and argumentation, not about what's happening re: the anthems and booing.

Oh so you’re an enabler of shitty opinions. You use your super intellectual platform to allow people with questionable views to feel empowered. What a saint.

Anyone who gets triggered by people standing for equality is a fucking menace man. Get over yourself.

“Outrage and cancel culture”..you have completely lost the plot dude. The subject at hand is people standing up for equality and justice. No politics. Wake the fuck up.

You pride yourself as a huge liberal and this is the hill you die defending?

Going 0 to 10 here, going to guess it's the wobbly pops.

Not a hill I'm dying on, quote me on something that even comes close to that. You can be a liberal and not be a fan of everything they do. Once again, this is a good example of why politics are so polarized in the states.

I take the view that having more open-ended discussions on these racist issues and people actually wanting to talk about them, rather than labelling someone as a racist in the first few posts, is a better way of going about it. I don't know Speedo's previous history regarding racism, but this wasn't enough to automatically make him racist.
