Cheerios4u98
I recently switched from Martin to Elixr strings on my acoustic guitar, and in the past couple months I've broken three Elixr strings (the D and two G's). This is super annoying considering they're quite a bit more expensive than strings I normally buy, and I've had other strings last for well over a year without breaking before (would not recommend, sounds real bad after a while). Has anyone else had this problem? I feel hugely ripped off, but I've heard from so many people that Elixrs are pretty much the longest-lasting strings. I don't get it. bennett
i've never experienced that, wouldn't even imagine not using elixer strings. ive used both light and medium phosphor bronze
Cheerios4u98
Weird. All the Elixr strings I own I bought at the same time. Maybe it's possible I got a bad batch or something. Can that happen? Who knows.
Kay
I bought Elixrs once, absolutely hated them, switched back to D'addario. so much better. no idea if they're in the US though.
Ghost
Dude, maybe they are supporting too much tension? They are thinner that the older ones? Maybe they get rusty? (don't think so). Is your guitar tuned up on a luthier? Maybe there are some little maladjustements?
Kay
I wouldn't go that far, I think preference has a lot to do with it. I've met many performers who hate them and many who love them. depends what you like really.
