jordidanen95
green day is more versitile (never used that word..hope its correct) what i mean is...green day vocals are more ''normal'', billie can actually really sing. they are better at their instruments (although they play simple stuff), theyhave solos, they can cover anything and make it sound decent. dookie had the same impact on90s punkrock as enema had to the then upcoming 00s poppunk, but dookie was first. also, green day gotlucky with American Idiot in 04. they are a tight live band with typical stadium classic rock stufflike the drum breaks in songs while the audience sings ''Heyyyy Ohhhh!!!, i say Heyyyyy ooh!!!!!''. blink was always more drawn to the poppunk side, and they aren't that good of a live band, they are not really good singers, they don't do solos, they fuck around on stage.... blink is just worse of a band in the opinions of most people. and thats understandable. still, to me blink-182 is more interesting, more fun, better songs, 2 really cool vocalists with both a unique voice that happens to be a full low bass voice, and a raspy whiny high treble kind of voice (mark & Tom), unique drummer that gives the songs an interesting vibe and groove... Blink was never about being a good live band. blink is about doing what u love doing, crafting amazing songs with your limited skills, the humour, the atitude, they have something green day never had. i hope i have said the things that i wanted to say..cause most times i get lost from what i actually wanted to say in the beginning of a post

Thats exactly how i feel about blink vs green day i don't think blink will ever make it into hall of fame or to the grammys. GD, even though i don't like them, make more sense in those enviroments. i also couldn't care less about it...
jordidanen95
if i go to a green day gig i expect it to be good, i payed good money for that shit. when i go to see blink, i just want to be with my best friends, and just enjoy watching the guys on stage do what they do thats the big difference to me also, green day uses a lot of power chords and simple beats. blink always played with the bass and guitar like they were 2 guitars, there were fun melodic riffs, awesome drum patterns...i mean i just love what travis does..when he does that thing when he goes through the rhythm of the song...those side snare hits that he does in pretty little girl/obvious, those groovy 5 side snare hits through a straight 4/4 song. so clever for a 3 piece band
vic vinegar
Voted no. It won't happen. Blink had their chance to go to the next level and they blew it. In 15 years I could honestly see them playing casinos.

Tend to agree with this to be honest, they've been pretty dysfunctional since reuniting and haven't managed to write anything of the level they wrote pre break up. I don't really care either way though, still my favourite band ever. who cares about accolades like that really?
_Kyle_
They've already been to the Grammys and been playing casinos.
raw_sounds
I think blink is being highly underestimated, they have influence so many bands, id say just as many as Green Day have. Travis Barker alone is considered one of the best drummers of our generation. I agree with jordidanen95 Green Day is just "better" in terms of what people expect from a band. I do think blink has a chance to get into the HoF, they just have to keep the band alive.

Zoltan
perhaps they were nominated, but tom had other things to do, so they just cancelled it.
Champ182
Not really sure since the Rock And Roll HOF seems very stuffy and old fashioned, but you never know! I've talked about it here a lot but right now there is a pretty huge semi-underground group of bands who regarded Blink as much more than just dick-joke dudes who run around naked, and their music has definitely lived on to influence modern indie/punkrock stuff. So in that sense they are probably more "well regarded" than a lot of people expected, but it depends on how they gauge stuff like that.
Jan Backing Track
I wouldn't be surprised if they do get in, not that I care. Green Day wasn't as punk rock or jokey, Blink stands alone in their unique style that I think people are starting to just recognize how genius it really was. Which is cool, didn't think that would ever be the case.
tom18222
no, tom quit right at the critical turning point in their careers. its unforunate, but they are just a novelty band now
Nasa
I think they'll get inducted eventually, but it's going to take a while. EOTS is a big deal and is grounds for their induction because of how influential it is and was. Even though everyone currently remembers blink as that band that ran around naked and made dick jokes during their concerts, there's a big chance that nostalgia for blink in their prime will become the most important factor in their induction. Lots of people, especially within the culture of the Rock and Roll HOF, dickride bands from the 1970s onward, but not based on how "good" their music or reputation is (whatever that means)--it's based on their influence, which is dependent on nostalgia in many cases, because nostalgia sheds a brighter light on how powerful/significant said influence is regardless of how the band was perceived by audiences and critics at the time. Besides, there are plenty of bands and artists that the average person hasn't ever heard of in terms of the "quality" of their music or the character of their reputation, yet they've been inducted into the HOF because of their influence. Who's to say that blink won't get inducted eventually when the committee looks back on EOTS? Recognizing influence--a recognition that can get tinged with nostalgia--always takes time. Jan Backing Track
I don't get what's so bad about being remembered as the band that ran around naked?
Speedo
I sure as shit don't want to be known for the stupid shit I did When I Was Young.
