They absolutely are way better song writers, hands down.

If you want a triple album of 36 of the same song, sure. Or following up a massively successful album with the exact same thing except way crappier, sure.

Green Day. I'm a fan. Love Dookie-Warning days. I even loved the American Idiot album.

They're repetitive as hell song writers. I'd argue Blink is more unique of a sound.

You're out of your mind.

EOTS is a big deal and is grounds for their induction because of how influential it is and was.

bingo

considering how each and every band will be in the hall of fame one day, no matter pop/rap whatever, blink will definitely get in. and they're already beginning to have some sort of critical re-examination, and with each and every album cycle the press gets more positive. i think it might take a while, but we'll see it. tom, mark, and travis will get in, but scott will get left out (chad channing had the same thing happen with nirvana). you'll get ATST, WMAA, and dammit, and 5SOS will induct blink or something lol.

"they". billie joe is the only real writer, the other guys have minimal impact. he was good, but now he's just rewriting the same songs... the drummer is average, the bass player is annoying (repeating a shitty bassline over and over requires no talent), that other guitarist is, uh, i don't even know if he's still in the band.

green day is overrated.

Not really. That band has blatantly ripped off other songs to the point where I don't know how they haven't gotten buttfucked for it yet. Blink has seldom ripped off other artists the way Green Day has. And when they do it's usually themselves.

Musically blink is more fun and more dynamic. Green Day is pretty vanilla sex sonically and hugely repetitive. They're tighter live, no doubt, but especially when they're not ripping off other bands, they, creatively speaking, pale pretty notably in comparison. Billie Joe "solos" but it's nothing that noteworthy. He's rarely come up with any riffs in general let alone riffs close to the creativeness and catchiness of Tom's, regardless of how simple they may be to play. Mike and Tre just kinda ride on the coat tails while Mark and Travis actually add personality and flavor to the weight the blink name carries. In fact, it's pretty well known that Billie Joe handles virtually all the songwriting for the majority of their catalogue.

Mike's technically miles better than Mark on bass, but Mark does a lot more in terms of actual song writing and obviously, vocals. And is overall more effective in his position than Mike is in his.

And Christ, Travis shits all over Tre in just every way possible it's not even funny. Creativity. Technical ability. You name it. I still say that's why he was the most cunty towards them during the pop disaster days

Billie Joe is more talented than both Mark and Tom. But the shit that he's put out since 2004 has to do more with him being lazy, not because he's suffering from a lack of self-esteem (Mark) or because he's completely lost his mind (Tom).

Define "talented"

You can call Billie Joe lazy all you want, but I think WDNTW, WHYSB, I-Empire, Neighborhoods and California are all better than anything Green Day has released since 04.

There's a difference between someone being a talented musician and you actually liking what they put out.

It's fairly evident that Billie is talented at writing catchy music, and is definitely a more capable vocalist and guitarist than both Mark and Tom. that doesn't necessarily mean you have to like his work more than theres, I certainly don't. I mostly hate Green Day with a passion, but you cannot ignore the fact that he's a damned talented man and in a lot of ways he's more talented than Tom and Mark.

The only real difference is Green Day has been sonically consistent, whilst blink have had a bit of a broader brush, for better or for worse.

He's a better guitar player and he sings better live. But there's a lot of talented guitarists and singers on YouTube. At some point I would consider his talent wasted when he hasn't written a good song in 12 years.

Im being harsh as I actually like Green Day, but I resent them for getting a lot of admiration that blink deserves.

He might be uninspired (I'd argue The Network and Foxboro are both creatively interesting and well made for side-projects), but he's not "lazy".

I don't get what's so bad about being remembered as the band that ran around naked?

Haha I think it's just become the shorthand for cheapening what they actually accomplished. I'd never take away any of their wacky shit, that was a huge part of the band, but when people say "the band that ran around naked" it's usually to kinda snark about how that's all their appeal was.

By talented I mean a better guitarist and singer, but I also mean a better songwriter. Billie Joe has written some very influential music--not to say that Tom and Mark haven't, because they certainly have--but it took two of them to pull off EOTS while it only took Billie Joe to pull off both Dookie and AI, two musically different albums released ten years apart in different musical contexts, and they both turned out to be massively successful. I also don't think AVA is comparable to Green Day's output since 2004 (which is mostly garbage excluding their side projects, which I like) because I think AVA is even more garbage, but that's just personal preference.

I agree that Billie Joe is currently uninspired, but by lazy I mean complacent, as in it seems that (at least to me) he feels like he doesn't have to genuinely try anymore because his music sells regardless. It could be more successful if he really tried, but it's successful enough to the point where mediocrity is suitable.

I love Green Day up to AI, and I love blink's discography more overall, but both bands currently disappoint me. I feel like Billie Joe's talent is wasted on Revolution Radio just as Mark's talent is wasted on California.

i vote for "yes". don't know why, haha. probably, because they deserve a lot some "high" award like Grammy or etc. but, in general, and here i can agree with my fav @Scott. - who's care about Grammy? blink-182 get their true appreciation a long time ago and still keep this.

I don't think anything post hiatus is going to have an impact on whether or not they get in the HOF. If they do get in, it'll be from their influence from EoTS up until Untitled. The fact that they've influenced so many bands makes me feel good about their chances, but I also think they probably won't be well-respected for a long time.

Yeah except they aren't (weren't)

in my opinion, dookie is a better pop punk album than enema. and insomniac is a better pop punk album than jacket. but dude ranch beats them both.
