Kay
blink being in the top 40 of biggest rock bands ever is an impressive concept, because theres fucking thousands of rock bands out there. I can't believe we're actually debating that blink-182 are a successful band that will be remembered. of course they will, of course they were.

There are a lot of bands out there, many of them in the HOF. I would be an idiot to put them in the top 20 or something, wtf. I think we have a fundamental difference of the meaning biggest band in the world...
_Kyle_
I mean compare Coldplay to Radiohead. Coldplay probably has sold more records, but Radiohead will be remembered and probably studied. Also bands like RHCP and Kings of Leon don't even go gold anymore. It's hard to say what is and isn't a success. Blink, I predict, willl be like the Ramones or the Clash in that they'll be referenced here and there and forever have a healthy cult-like group of dedicated fans. Similar to The Cure or Nine Inch Nails in terms of new generations getting turned on to them.
kc-chris
I think some people are mistakingly using blink's 'influence' as an indicator of size. blink's influence (of which it had A LOT) far exceeded the size of the band itself. saying blink is one of the most INFLUENTIAL bands ever is much more appropriate than saying it was one of the BIGGEST bands ever. album and ticket sales alone will tell you that. although there's no denying that blink did get very big for a while. No, I guess you're just such a fucking simpleton that you can't properly apply the phrase "ONE OF THE" without immediately jumping to the conclusion that it means "THE." No one ever said they were THE biggest band in the world. ONE OF THE does not inherently imply top 5 status either. Jesus. Fucking. Christ.
Lauren
Blink IS the biggest band of this century hands down. I mean, the sell out hyenas.

Why? They opened that casino in the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania (like two hours from Philly and NYC) and now it gets awesome shows all the time. I'm from Pittsburgh (about 4 hours away) and they're totally taking all the good shows that used to come through here.

It seemed like that venue is so half assed. We had to wait in the casino hallway outside of the actual venues lobby before they even let us in there. Security flipped shit if we sat down or got out of single file even in the slightest bit. Once we got into the lobby, it was a shit show. No line in front of the doors to the main room, just a huge crowd. When they opened the doors, people just flooded in falling over each other and knocking over the roping that was supposed to keep everyone together. That and the fact we had to walk thru the casino smelling all of the old dying people playing penny slots just to get to the venue...never again.

Closest blink ever played to me was 2 hours.

And why do you keep saying I'm misunderstanding you. Seriously, saying they are one of the biggest bands would make anyone outside this forum laugh their fucking ass off. Its a ridiculous statement... for real. Of course one of implies top 5 or top 10, if I'm lenient maybe even top 20, are you kidding me. Again, you might as well say ADTR is one of the biggest bands, hey they rank #80!!! I love Blink, but I'm not a blinded fanboy.

The distance I have to drive wasn't the point though. The point is you have three major metropolitan areas, Pittsburgh, Philly, and New York, all within a reasonable distance. Why not just play in one of those cities? Why go to a shitty casino in a small town where 99% of your attendees will be making a multiple hour drive? It'd be like them playing a concert in Davenport. You'd probably wonder why they wouldn't just play in Chicago or Des Moines.

I'd love it if the played Davenport or Des Moines, they played Des Moines on the Neighborhoods tour so i went to that but also saw them in Chicago. I'm not banking on them coming close to me this time though, I'm betting i'll have to hit Chicago or Minny which is fine with me.
