Did anyone else think a lot about as a kid that the second verse of the first two singles on an album always started with the same word? I guess it's not really true.

They've always been pros at repeating snippets to make the songs more catchy.  (Especially Mark - who's been a master at this).  They've done it in other ways as well:

 

Whats My Age Again - the choruses are technically different but cleverly play off of eachother very closely

• And that's about the time she walked away from me
  Nobody likes you when you're 23
  And are still more amused by TV shows
  What the hell is ADD?
  My friends say I should act my age
  What's my age again?
  What's my age again?

• And that's about the time that bitch hung up on me
  Nobody likes you when you're 23
  And are still more amused by prank phone calls
  What the hell is call ID?
  My friends say I should act my age
  What's my age again?
  What's my age again?

 

I'm sure there's a lot more out there.  But it's just one of the (many) ingredients that have made blink songs so catchy

I was thinking of the opposite. Like "When they said" "When you smile" and "Where do we go from here?" And "Where are you?

Back then I never heard the word "then" in WMAA so I thought it was "Later on" and that that and "Late night" fit there as well

This actually kinda blew my mind. Makes total sense they'd do this from a catchiness standpoint. Really hooks you in.

Hollywood Palladium! Smaller venue. I was told that backing tracks are needed to fill out large arenas, so surely they won’t be using them for this show, right? RIGHT???
