I think my biggest gripe with the album is that I don't really believe it. Especially Tom's songs. I can't take it seriously. Enema might be equally juvenile, but it sounds sincere.

Yea exactly. GMOGR hit so hard back when I was 14 lol. Please Take Me Home just never did it for me. Give me TTBU all day. There is nothing generic about TTBU, and it’s cool how it tells you to move on instead of being another mopy whiny song

Well, of course. That's like all the blink songs. If they started playing lame prog progression it wouldn't really be power pop, would it? Those chords work. Why change a winning team, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Sweet Home Alabama is basically the same chords as All the Small Things and Freebird is Bored to Death basically. But I appreciate the contrarianism.

I will agree with you that I really enjoy the instrumentation of SOALG but the lyrics are just too cringe for me to revisit it much. I certainly wouldn’t play it around anyone else lol.

I feel that way about most of the album. But I feel like the music makes up for the lyrics in that song.

Not at all, but it is probably their weakest album lyrically. The music is top tier though.
