I That sounds like a great exercise! i hate that i overthink stuff. It‘s exhausting, and the music suffers most of the time
thongrider
I feel like all my songs sound like The Story of My Life by Social D.
Speedo
4 hours ago, Drunk said: I've just finished writing a 2:20 minute song that you could say is in The Ramones' style. Lyrically, it's from the point of view of a teenager who talks about how one day he's going to win the local car rally, play with the big players on a major team, and finally work up the courage to approach the girl he's been thinking about and tell her he loves her. The chorus reflects a shift to the present, where he wonders where is she and what happened to her because he hasn't heard from her in a long time. It's a song that feels both sad and nostalgic in its lyrics, but with a happy, energetic instrumental backing. I can't help but feel like I've just written a hit song. thongrider
I've used an electronic drum pad for most of my new songs, but I recorded them analogically. I feel like they'll hell to mix. I recorded a guitar solo today and bass and synth and just bass on two other songs.

I just realized when I was posting in the JEW topic that seeing Blink play with the Pop Disaster Tour was what started me on my music path. That night after the show I went home and grabbed my mom's old beat up acoustic and taught myself how to play a shitty, out of tune versions of the smoke on the water riff. Fun fact, I did it with one of Tom's picks that he threw into the crowd. It was just laying on the floor of the pit, no one had grabbed it. I have no idea what happened to that pick. A few weeks after that I got a shitty Squire Strat and practice amp at guitar center and learned dammit. So, oddly enough, I can pinpoint the exact moment I started playing guitar ... May 10th 2002, it was a little before midnight, I was 15. What started you guys? I started playing drum set when I watched Ed Udhus of zebrahead play through Falling Apart and All My Friends Are Nobodies. I started guitar upon receiving a knockoff Gibson guitar (it was called a Cibson). I started playing flute when a girl started following me around at band camp and decided to teach me to play. I started keyboard when I asked for a cheap keyboard and some Elton John sheet music. When I quit that, I joined band where I was trained on bellkit (glockenspiel's informal term). To this day I only remember generic power chords on guitar and the fingerings for D on flute, but I still play drums and keyboards every day.
