thongrider Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 I've been somewhat happy with my recordings lately. Quote
Prey Gubes Posted January 8 Posted January 8 This past weekend I went through 117 audio clips for songs/song ideas and I kept 3 songs and tossed the rest. 20 years of old shit that went no where. I started over and so far I’m 4 songs in, trying to mess around with intentional songwriting and album shaping. It’s been the most rewarding and fun experience I’ve had with music in more than a decade. After this project is finished I getting rid of the bulk of my gear and stepping away for some other hobbies. 2 Quote
logangage Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Hey so I'm an up-and-coming musician, I play punk music, and I was wondering if I could get any advice on writing catchier, successful songs, like blink does lol I have a few but I mean I could still do better and I'm looking to improve. Quote

My advice is to never think of chord progressions as songs or that chord progressions are unique. The clue is more about what you do with the chord progressions you use. Quote

I assume you already do this but learn some songs from bands you really like, and then try to think about the chords and progressions they use and how they fit together. then try to come up with your own variation of those songs, or songs “inspired” by those bands. Even if they are too close to “copies” it can help you get a feel for why things work and why other things don’t. The better grasp you have of songs and bands you admire the better you can come up with your own stuff and develop your own style. 1 Quote
twelve Posted February 21 Posted February 21 I think I wrote my best song ever last night. I hope you get to hear it one day. 1 Quote
thongrider Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Sometimes I get a sort of post nut clarity that it's called in scientific terms when I have released something new. When I am in the process of making a release I always get this feeling it will be super great, but when it's out I'm thinking "What have I done? Why did I release this?" Quote
