Yeah british slang for steal but it’s also used for arrested, as in “you’re nicked”

Not a lot at the moment. I’ve been working on writing new stuff and I tend to work on riffs and leads last. Right now it’s just building the framework and writing lyrics.

anybody else feeling like they get slower with writing songs as they age?

sure when i was younger, i wrote a lot of trash too, but lately i'm making progress at such a snails pace, it's fucking exhausting. craving for some magical moment, like a song that basically writes itself

Yep! Used to write like 20 songs a week. Now I can manage 20 songs a year. I do feel like the quality of those songs are better tho.

i did FAWM this year (basically songwriters month, in february) the challenge is 14 songs in 28 days. Theres challenges and a community and stuff.

I completed it. Didn’t expect to, but I went for quantity not quality, tried silly stuff for the fuck of it. I found it freeing and fun but a huge time suck.

Since then, I have played one in public and have vague intentions of turning one into a song with the band, most of them are incredibly “meh” but it was a worthwhile experience.

This is on the back of veeeery minimal writing from me. I have written basically fuck all since as well.

i think the older you get, the more critical you become of your work and the more responsibilities you have so you have less time and opportunity to just fuck about for fun and write stuff. Seems natural.
