I used to love him. Saw the foos live every time they came here. Followed all the shit he did. Then I got older and kinda just got over his whole shtick and didn’t believe it.

only thing I remember about Big Me is the video, I rate My Hero tho. Last one I heard from them that I liked was Rope, I was in like the second gear of high school then. Says it all

Yeah, I don't blame him.  I just would prefer to drop the whole act if wanting to also earn cool points all the time.  I just see him as the next host on the Voice or one of those shows more than anything.

Again, I don't blame him, I am not famous (outside of here), and can't say how I'd handle the pressure of everyone seeing me as the nice guy hero in rock.

I still decently like Foo Fighters, just can't take them as seriously as I'd want to.

I'm not even a Foo Fighters fan, I only like one song (Next Year), but there are worse people than Dave Grohl, he's a good one. And he seems consumed by his love for music because he genuinely loves it.

I know that he shows up on every music documentary ever made and people make fun of him for that, but I think he's just like that because he loves to talk about music.

I agree he loves being a rockstar and all, and you can't knock him for that.  It's just the whole Nirvana thing and 'not being allowed to say bad' about him.  At least that's how it feels over here, like he's untouchable because of his fame status.

I can see myself liking him more if it wasn't the poster dad for american rock.

I also don't really 'dislike' him.  Just curious what others thought seeing him everywhere and always playing this beautiful nice guy and always saying the same thing every time about ABBA, Slayer, all of 90s thrash metal more than Nirvana (who he kind of sounds like), little richie, DMX, the DMV etc etc influenced him, only record on tape and such.  Like we get it, and Foo Fighters is very stadium/poppy.

 

I did just go on a bender watching Dave Grohl stuff because of this.  I am almost 90% sure it has to do with this legal battle with Courtney Love is why he probably hates Nirvana talk more than anything.  Sounds like she took all the money away from him and Krist, or tried to.  Which, is iffy, because it was his wife's right technically, it's just shoddy because at that time the two other artists probably deserved it more, but that's how it works here.  You marry, you are giving away anything that's yours to your family/spouse once you die unless you specifically state otherwise in a bunch of legal documents.

i like Foo Fighters' debut, The Colour and the Shape, and Wasting Light. the rest of their albums pre-Wasting Light have a few songs i enjoy. i just think it's difficult to make their style of music versatile and over the years it's gotten stagnant. i don't really have any opinions on Dave Grohl as a guy though, not something i tend to pay attention to.
