Jan Backing Track
Everyone's been waiting in anticipation for me to make this..so here it is. *Disclaimer: I'm doing everything Dookie on, which I feel is a clear era of what many consider "pop-punk". Do it how you want.* Acclaimed Picks: 1. Blink 182 'Feeling This' - It really seems hard to pick the first one. I think this list is going to be dominated by Green Day and Blink for good reason. I truly think this is the perfect pop punk song, it hits all the elements perfectly. The punk aggressive guitars, the soft melodies in the chorus. Some innovation and just an overall perfect song start to finish. 2. Green Day 'Basket Case' -This one may have started it all for a lot. I'll never forget seeing Billy Joe come on the TV and look like a total typical guy with problems and not all glamorous singing this super catchy tune that emulates what's to come for Pop Punk. 3. Blink 182 'Dammit' - Safe to say this is every millennial's first riff they learned on guitar. You can still come across interviews today of some well known guitarists stating Dammit inspired them to pick up a guitar and they aren't afraid to admit it. See 'Neil Westfall'. 4. Green Day 'Welcome To Paradise' - With Basket Case, there also came Welcome To Paradise. A more aggressive upbeat song that felt like a 'smells like teen spirit' of pop punk in a way. 5. Green Day 'When I Come Around' - Can't have Basket Case and Welcome to Paradise without When I Come Around. Probably one of their most played songs and one that connected with all types of fans. 6. Blink 182 'What's My Age Again' - Maybe a song that connected too well the the teens and tweens into pop music, WMAA still hit the scene by storm with its legendary video capturing Pop Punk's personality perfectly. 7. Yellowcard 'Ocean Avenue' - Let's face it. This song was a massive hit. It was the theme song for a lot of pop punk fans and casuals. One hit wonder, but it holds its place on the list. 8. Blink 182 'All The Small Things' - It was big. 9. Offspring 'Self Esteem' - Hesitate to put this here, as it verges off Pop punk a little bit, but the song was too impactful and Offspring needs to take a spot on this list. Kids aren't alright was more popular in the end, but this song held more impact imo. 10. Sum 41 'Fat Lip' - Ethan song, but hey the kids thought the hip hop was super cool. HM: Good Riddance (Time of Your Life), Longview, Waiting, Brain Stew, American Idiot, Blvd of Broken Dreams, The Kids Aren't Alright, Come Out And Play, Sugar We're Going Down, The Middle, Superman, Adams Song, Rock Show, First Date, Love Is Dangerous, The Anthem, Memory, In Too Deep, Still Waiting, Everything Is Alright, When Your Heart Stops Beating, There Is Personal Picks: 1. Blink 182 'Emo' 2. Blink 182 'Heres Your Letter' 3. Blink 182 'Feeling This' 4. Blink 182 'Easy Target' 5. Green Day 'J.A.R' 6. +44 'Lillian' 7. Box Car Racer 'Sorrow' 8. Green Day 'The Grouch' 9. Goldfinger 'Superman' 10. Saves The Day 'Freakish'
Patient #48273
For a list that's only supposed to include albums that came out after Dookie, there are an awful lot of Dookie songs on there. 1

I DIDN'T MEAN TO CALL YOU THAT. Fucking hate that song, but it definitely left its mark. Just went to check out their other stuff after this post for memories, the second most popular song goes: "You make me come. You make me complete. You make me completely miserable."
