Russel Coight 4618
Or he could hear what was going on in the monitors and knew he had to step. Skiba made the right call knowing full well the criticism he would receive online
Melty Mark 4209
So my date is tonight and I don't even want to go. Legit in the process of giving my ticket away. It's pouring rain and they're not really worth it to me at this point. 1 1

Melty Mark 4209
I've seen them with Tom and with Matt 2 or 3 times now, and watching video of them performing I just so don't care. I wish I did but god damn it's mediocre.
Jan - Unofficial Moderator 6858
You know damn well Mark would have been FURIOUS if they had gone over by 40 seconds for having to start over after bringing a fan on stage. Good job Matt! Save that song with your superior skills, teach that kid a lesson!
Lindemulder 107
Thats just brutal to watch. Feel sorry for the guy.. however I do believe the flaws are more apparent in the video NowNow were referring to on 127. Right chords, but the timing actually seems off or weird at least.
NotNow 2751
Yea I’m not convinced he was actually playing fine because as we’ve all said you couldn’t actually hear anything over the backing track. They can hear everything perfectly in the monitors and it’s very easy to get off rhythm in a live performance. All I wanted was an explanation, seems fine to me. The only issue to me is what champ said, if the in ear monitors are needed to keep tempo, why bring people on stage at all? Sure you’ll have some pros that can keep up, but if the in ear monitors are that important that something like this could happen to someone, then don’t bother bringing people up at all.
Ry-Bread 5850
Just saw this, such an overreaction by Skiba haters. They intentionally raise backing tracks and lower actual instrument volume when these “fan guests” play... this Oliver wannabe was butchering it so bad it was messing with their timing in their monitors. Skiba had to step in to save their biggest hit of every night. He even apologized to the kid during the bridge, clearly he didn’t have time to usher him off stage and pat him on the head mid-song. The guy should’ve jumped around on stage playing hype man to finish off the song. I hate having fans on stage to play songs btw, I don’t pay $200 to see Jimbo from Wisconsin play ATST.

Donald Trump's Bulge 8556
Bunch of non guitar players and their bullshit. @Ry-Bread definitely can't even play basic shit.....because if he could, he'd know that guy was playing ATST spot on. Watch his hands, watch the chords. Its not that fucking hard to see. There was no timing problems, no mess up, no in ear monitor issues. Thats all bullshit. This only strengthens my idea, that you were all full of shit in my oliver vs Skiba thread. You guys are literally dumb as fuck when it comes to basic guitar. As to why Matt stripped the guitar; I think the backing track thing probably concerned him al la milli vanilli. He realized people were going to pickup on it if the guy did in fact mess up and he panicked. Then he didn't even encourage the guy to stay and sing along. It was like, get the fuck out of here bro. Donald Trump's Bulge 8556
Also the "backing track since 2009" crowd is full of shit.l Find me an instant of where they used basic chords like ATST as backing tracks. Sure they used Piano and other stuff on I miss You, or whatever. But ATSTs? Seriously?

What a dumb fanfic...if this was your theory, then if the kid was doing just fine Skiba should’ve been thrilled. But no, he had him take off the guitar mid-song which would COMPLETELY EXPOSE THIS MILLY VANILLY SCAM HE’S RUNNING. This is seriously such a ridiculous fan-fic fueled by an unhealthy amount of hatred towards Skiba.

Basic C, G, F chords with proper strumming. It was pretty clear that there was enough backing guitar there that no one even needed to be playing. You are hearing full guitar when no guitar is being played. It would have looked so weird.
Donald Trump's Bulge 8556
Ry Bread has a lot of guts being critical of my guitar playing then exposing himself as not even knowing basic guitar chords like a 2 year old could master. Hilarious.
Russel Coight 4618
People in that Reddit thread about this said the backing track became way more obvious once the kid came on. Pretty clear it was turned up once he had the guitar.

Ry-Bread 5850
Neither of our guitar skills have anything to do with your ridiculous theory that Skiba mid-song in front of 12,000 people, after 5 years of playing to blink backing tracks...got terrified of being ousted as a Milly Vanilly guitar lip syncer and decided to... interrupt the show and show the world he is lol. blink has had backing tracks since at least 2013, and again, when Jimbo from Wisconsin gets up there to crap his pants during ATST, they crank it up even higher and lower his instrument to account for errors/nervousness if they suck.

It was widely critiqued when this tour was going on, do you not remember that? It’s lower in the mix then, but this wasn’t some magical thing that started when Matt joined the band. It’s been getting higher in the mix every year for the last decade.

Exactly. Ripping the guitar off the dude during a part of the song when guitar is playing is a lot easier way to put yourself as not playing onstage. The backing track was turned up. The kid wasn’t playing the song right. Matt saved the song for the rest of the crowd.
