Nine Criticisms.

Recommended Posts

Nearly a year sober now though. Never decided to quit, just have been too focused on me and my future to think about drinking.

Songs straight embarrassing. Don't get me wrong, there's some interesting moments, starts well, and better than Cali but the last thing I need is

"I'm still hungover yoouuuuu" -Mark Hoppus, happily married with kid, in the most poppy melody ever and Tpain verses.

Pre chorus is cool.  Chorus is dreadful, worst chorus of the new songs imo.

? fucking clueless.

Got a few songs that I keep playing! (Run Away, Hungover, Grenade, No Heart, Dark Side). Rest of the songs are mostly on Cali level.

The electronic vibes are really cool, and the more adult lyrics are appreciated, but Feldmanns influence is again undeniable.

Regardless, it's an important message song

i think the message is good. people still get hungover, even if they aren't drunks.

but the song isn't great, imo.

I don't know, I've been there several times where I've literally cracked a bottle for breakfast.  And I dated a wonderful girl for a while who unfortunately had to witness first hand me drinking all day and night, each and every day because it's the only thing I felt would numb the pain. I guess I just identify with it on a pretty personal level.  And when you wake up, and your head is throbbing and all you wanna do is take the day's first shot to start making that sharp pain go away it truly does feel like you're hungover somebody and what they've done to your mental. It doesn't feel like a bull shit song, just because Mark is on it and he's never seemed to have a problem. Travis has had his major problems with addiction, and I'm pretty sure Matt has too. Regardless, it's an important message song - feels way less write-off than a fake song about a relationship that never existed.

It's more just the melody tbh.  The attempt to be poppy and catchy felt forced and bullshit more than the lyrics.  I like the bottle for breakfast lyric.

the more times i listen to the album, the more critical i'm getting. particularly with the lyrics. example: "it was over, the last time that i saw her." like, no shitthat's why it was the last time you saw her.

Best lyric on the album.

I've seen some strong praises to the second half of the album, but I find the first half i better.

The record is starting to sit a little more as I listen o it more times.

On Some Emo Shit annoys me. That chorus is absolutely horrible. It has a terrible melody and goes on for too long. But then the last minute of the song is great and powerful and one of the best parts of the album for me.

On some emo shit is my favourite song on the album. I thought fans would love it, I’m wrong

after listening through the whole thing again (i've probably listened to nine six or seven times), the only things sticking with me are moments. not entire songs, really. i commend the album for those moments and i think it puts nine ahead of california.

for songs, the only ones i think i like are "first time" / "darkside" / "generational divide" / "run away" / "pin the grenade" / "ransom"

that's six songs i will listen to again. i've unchecked the others.

I’m really surprised so many of the haters like The First Time..to me it’s the most Feldmann song on the album. I like it, but it’s a bottom half song for me at this point in time

I liked it initially but I cant tell it apart from the others, I think it benefited from being the first one to listen to on the record, because you don't have the rest of the album to compare it to. on multiple listens it gets lost in the electronic autotune wash.

Kind of wished the album just ended on Hungover You, feels like RTFM was just forced in there and written solely because they decided they wanted to end the album with a slow one (Just like they did on California) and for me it's just a pretty flat ending to a solid album overall.
