We just had a show cancelled (obviously) this weekend, our band practises are at a rental rehearsal space which has had to massively clamp down on things making it more difficult, and I have a sneaky suspicion the all day festival we're playing late April will be cancelled too. Luckily for us we didn't have too much set up at the moment, been focusing on releasing the singles. so it has and it hasn't really, it's affecting the venues around me loads though.

We never planned on playing shows but we were gonna fly up to Canada to record and that's been canceled. Also, with the ample time afford now that the city is about to shut down we are moving forward with an album instead of an ep of older songs, which is what I wanted to do in the first place so that works as well. Basically, the whole process just got a lot cheaper and easier with the exception that I'll soon be writing with my kids and wife at home.

Aah that sucks, I've had two shows this weekend cancelled as well, it really sucks since I've lost my job recently due to them going bankrupt, so these gigs are a good extra set of income. I also have a festival booked in late April that probably will be cancelled as well. Great times haha!

Damn, I'm sorry bout the record sessions going down the drain.. It seemed to work out for you anyways with the older EP though haha!
How is the production on the older EP?

The EP was gonna be songs from older projects I never got around to finishing. There are a few songs that I really like from it but outside of those I wasn't really feeling it and hated working on them. I just wasn't in the same mind set as I was when I started them and I was interested in finishing them for the project. We were only demoing (slowly) at the time all this quarantine shit went down so it's not a big loss.

Yeah I get you. We had almost finished recording our whole new album, the only thing that was left to do was vocals when the studio computer crashed and no backup, we managed to save some things but not everything. Super fun times!  1.5 years of work went pooff!

I got suspensed from my job so I'm just gonna pretend I'm a musician now. Try to do as many musician things as possible. It's not like I can do much.

Haha I love your sense of humor! These are hard times for all of us, for us musicians that are counting on some extra income it hits harder though. Especially us that gets laid off from our “real” jobs, but what we have to do is to stick together and support each other, we will go out on top from this pandemic, somehow, somewhere.

Things are getting serious here and I guess it has freaked my bass player out, he has quit the band. I tried not to take it personally but I have and I'd be lying if I said it didn't suck. I don't have a lot of friends and he was my best one and that's just that. It sucks.

@Speedo So are you tracking new versions of this old EP? or are you just tracking new bass tracks? How are you mixing it?

It would have been an EP of older songs of mine that I never recorded or put out before. They were all in various stages of completion so we were gonna finish them, demo them and the arrange and produce them into an EP. I didn't like the idea so I pushed for ixnaying the EP and hist focusing on new shit instead.

I always have issues with bassists so I've learned to have back ups.
