Jan Mortensen Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 Decent chill song, kind of typical AvA filler. Guitar sounds great these days though. I like that Tom is changing it up song to song right now stylewise. Kiss&Tell > Rebel Girl >> ATLIL 5 Quote
Neal Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 Fucking great! Those drum breaks are so cool. First listen was a bit dissapointing, but i really like it now 1 Quote
bojangles Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 does the intro remind anyone else of I'm Lost Without You? Quote

Neal Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 pretty sure this was thrown together for the covid19 situation, lirically it would make total sense 2 Quote
radioactive tomdog Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 it's growing on me a bit. the lyrics are a little too topical, in what seems like a forced way but all three of these new songs prove that tom is still a great songwriter imo 1 Quote

It's still so surreal to me to be typing sentences like that, labeling it "the virus" and we all genuinely know what the hell I'm talking about. What fucking happened? 1 Quote
Ghent Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 Takes three years to write crappy albums. "throws together" a song last minute and it is good. hmm. Someone bring this guy to Feldy 1 Quote
zzzz Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 I just listened to it about 20x and I honestly think some of the lyrics sound like he’s talking about his past marriage... I’d be shocked if it was thrown together quickly, though I could see the chorus or some of the lines coming together more recently in response to Covid stuff. 1 Quote
M!ke Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 If it is about the virus, then I'm curious about this part: We‘re locked inside our beds, but we Laugh at what is said, remember how it all begins A little smile from your friends Is that part essentially saying, we're all quarantined now, and it started with many joking about it, laughing and smiling, but that's just how it begins. Doesn't say how it ends, but it almost reads ominous, like, this is how it starts... 1 Quote

Dylan_ Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 Seems like the song was written two weeks ago... 6 1 Quote
zzzz Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 Hmmm. I guess it’s just obvious at this point that Tom will work when he’s inspired, and it’s sporadic and no one knows when that will be. 4 Quote
Osgod Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 Nice songs. I still always get this special feeling when either Tom or Mark/Travis release a new song. Really can’t wait for the new album. 1 Quote
Jamie Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 I like it. That's what you can say about Tom. He can make a catchy song. He also can make those feel-good songs. That's what I feel Blink has been missing the last 4 years. 6 Quote

Doesn't tour or do anything the next 6 years, but takes years to release EPs and Albums and doesn't complete them sometimes (WDNTW Acoustic which was songs he already wrote 10+ years before). But he is on quarantine for 2 weeks and can complete a song. I will never understand what his deal is. Unless of course he is lying, which is a great possibility. Also as far as the lyrics being topical. Couldn't you say the same about 75% of Ava songs? You probably could make the argument, but there are a few key lyrics like: "we're locked inside our beds" like that's a pretty strong allusion to quarantine. Granted, it's vague enough where it doesn't have to be, but I think you can just kinda see how the current situation has inspired the song. 1 Quote

Knapppers Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 That main guitar riff sounds extremely similar to a song I know but I can't think of it and it's bugging me so much Quote
Jan Mortensen Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 Tom is one of the best songwriters of our generation. I don't care what anyone says. Our generation is emo and whiney, but also just want to have a fucking good time, Tom knows how to connect to us. 5 Quote

I understood it more like yeah we‘re all separated at the moment, but don‘t forget we can still (re-)connect through smiles, laughs, love and all that. Just the standard AVA uplifting message thing. 2 Quote
