Yeah it was a shit show for sure. I've seen them two times, once with the Farros in 2008, and once in 2013 without. The 2008 show was truly off the charts. Ditched the Rage against the machine for the Paramore show and couldn't have been happier. Got to see Jeremys backflip as well. great times

When have I done that?  I have never said they were formed the same, I’m saying that it doesn’t matter how bands are formed. Why does it matter to you if a band were friends before they formed a band or if they didn’t know each other?

I meant what's more populary known as "emo" to most kids. I don't think the kids of the mid 2000's were bopping their heads to rites of springs or to some cassettes and vinyls of super obscure emo-violence bands from the 90's. u get my point but yeah, you're technically right ?

Im on team Green Day. Its hard to conclude anything though when culture is such an abstract term. I like blink more but to me the cultural impact they made is only relating to how people dress and sound if they make a band. To me blink only influenced minor stuff like that, whereas Green Day had a way bigger impact than that. As I see it, Green Day already made the same impact as blink with Dookie, but they really expanded upon that with American Idiot. Most people know the line "Wake Me Up When September Ends", and the way they attacked the government back then was a huge deal. In music blink always remained silent about that kind of stuff, but I think that the influence Green Day made on peoples perception of the Bush-adminstration (and now Trump) and the Iraq-war should not be underestimated.

that Face To Face song, Promises, is from 95 right? How does that predate Tom's Touchdown Boy? Sorry if this has been talked about already

Also the Paramore thing is so iffy, but I do believe HW wanted it to be a legit music band, however, they weren't. It's always been Hayley Williams and the Hired Guns when it came down to brass tax. I honestly wonder if they even "wrote" that first album in terms of the music. Apparently some of the band members were barely competent. 

It's not exactly her fault, but she was a minor and her parents probably didn't like the idea of her going on tour with a bunch of dudes anyway. It was about as organic as it could have been.

sure, big choice came out a week after cheshire cat (february 28, 1995). but face to face had been playing those songs all throughout 1994. some are even from 1993. and blink opened for face to face many, many times. "promises" was indeed written and performed before tom wrote "touchdown boy."

i don't like the kiddie pop-punk paramore at all. but i've listened to after laughter three times through now, once while cleaning the house. they've won me over! this goes in my best coast / metric playlist for sure. great find!

i just had to pretend it's not them. sort of like tegan and sara's heartthrob. so, so, not the old T&S. but very, very good as something else.

on three spins, i really like "pool." but all of it is nice background pop, for cleaning house or writing and working on the computer, etc. sometimes i really like music that "doesn't get in the way." i would not rock out to after laughter in my car, for example, shouting every word and singing along. it's not that kind of thing.

but i mean let's be clear, @Diddy Faplord, they just don't have the cultural staying power of, say, green day.

and speaking of t&s @Patient #48273 have you heard their new one? interesting mix of synth pop, rock, and acoustic. some of the tracks like "don't believe the things they tell you (they lie)" could be on a blink album imo.
