I think “rerun from MTV” is a bit disingenuous considering it’s nowhere near as referential as a lot of the 80s revivalism going on in this particular year. Have you listened to the rest of the album? 1 Quote

Yes, no need to explain to me that it was a joke, lmao. I saw and responded to your post before reading the rest of the conversation. What’d you think of the rest of it? 1 Quote

Yea, plus they were completely manufactured and put together with her obviously being the main piece and focus. I can’t get behind shit like that. Some don’t care, I do. I'd give it another go. Lyrically she was dealing with depression and divorce, I've never been a fan before than record but I absolutely loved it. Grew on me like a fungus. Fake Happy, Rose Coloured Boy, Caught In The Middle, Idle Worship... Fucking beautiful album tbh. 2 Quote

Call me a snob if you want the label’s original plan was to turn Hayley Williams into a Top 40 pop singer, but she resisted because she wanted to play alternative rock music with a band and show they could write their own songs together. she also met the guys who she later formed the band with through a homeschooling program and befriended them in vocal lessons and songwriting sessions...does that read as “completely manufactured” to you? 3 Quote

Speedo Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 Look, @daveyjones, that single is alright the rest of the album is not great, not bad, middle of the road. It's alright for the back ground at someone's house or car or something but outside of that, you're probably not gonna get in to it. 1 Quote

Makes sense—I was just curious. I’m not saying it’s bad or anything or an invalid music experience—I just hadn’t heard of it as a reason before for someone to struggle to enjoy music, that’s all! 1 Quote

Well, Zac stated in his statement on his blog that the band indeed was a manufactured product of a major label, that the albums only was publicly released by Fueled By Ramen for street cred and that Hayley being the only member of the band being signed to the label. "The band was in the dark the whole time. After many meetings between Hayley, her manager and the labels they decided to sign her to Atlantic Records. We didn't understand why Hayley was the only one signing the contract since we were told this was a 'band,' but we were too young to grasp all of this. ... Next thing we knew we were having a signing party for Hayley." I mean, it’s not pretty.. To the album discussion; I’ve been a fan since the beginning but the last album didn’t do it for me apart from the lead single, I just couldn’t get into it. Hayley is the best female vocalist in the genre imo, the video when she’s recording still into you gives me such a big smile every time I see it 1 1 Quote

I'm not saying you're wrong (I won't know for another decade), but as I've gotten older, I've found that I've become more open-minded about listening to musicians who are younger than me. 1 Quote
Nosferatu Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 Nah I don't like Paramore. Only good song they've ever done is Misery Business in my opinion. Prefer FOB and I ain't the biggest fan of FOB either. Quote
