New generation of pop punk

Yeah the new album is a drop in quality but it’s still good. I wasn’t fussed at first but it’s really grown on me. I can see people not really liking Ben’s vocals but they got some great tunes and like o said that album is regarded as a classic in the pop punk community

Deluxe Edition is out now, here’s the collab with The Used & Yungblud (though what happened to the other two songs with Yungblud? Saving for a duet album? lol)

Not sure how I feel about the rest of deluxe songs and he again threw his very meh cover of misery business in there

This is pretty sweet except the guitar riff is very off putting. Chorus is great though, the rest of the album is missing great choruses like this.

I think the best song on the album is a deluxe song. Hangover cure.

Other two suck.

In a year of basically no new music, this and the new killers albums are probably the only two albums of consequence for me this year. What a rough year

edit: listened a few more times and this new yungblud song I think is easily the second best after I think I’m okay. The chorus is so good. Can they just make a full album together?

Yeah I'm not really feeling these Deluxe "Sold Out" songs as much...thank God they were able to recognize that and not make an ENTIRE DELUXE ALBUM to overdo the amount of similar songs written.

Can't Look Back is a keeper though.  Cool to see more features/influences.

Travis drumming is also 10X better on this than current blink 183 what the HELL.  Why did they do this stupid Goldfinger mush on California is beyond me, Travis is still king.

Do you think it's Mark being controlly/dumb not letting Travis produce? Or the both of them would be beautiful considering Motion City and this.

See I'm in the opposite camp, I think the non traditional choruses is what makes this album stand out, less formulaic.

Guitar riff feels like a sum 41 influence

Why can Machine Gun Kelly write more interesting riffs than Mark and Matt is the real question.

Are you sure he wrote them? There’s that Nick Long bloke credited as both a composer and guitar writer on every song and he has a more “rock” songwriting background.

I haven't listened to it, is there a lot of autotune on it as well?

It just doesn't really sound like anything particularly personal or real, pop music with some guitars really. He seems like a sellable face. I ain't complaining because I want a genre resurgence.

I think the real question is why is Jan so desperate for this to be a MGK vs blink battle? Just enjoy it for what it is. Everybody else is able too. Constantly trying to make blink look bad by comparison to the MGK album just comes across as cringy and sad.

I’m not going to listen to this, I’m sure it’s cheesy and horrible as all hell. MGK didn’t write the guitars so don’t give him credit for that. And I’m about as big of a fan of Travis as you can possibly be. Still, not enough to overlook the cringe fest that is MGK. MGK did have a nice hair transplant though, I’ll give him credit for that!

Outside of Blink, I wasn't a big fan of the early 00's era of MTV pop punk. So, this isn't for me. I don't necessarily have any hate for it or feel the need to shit on it, I guess but I just don't have any real interest in listening to it. At least not any more than any other band from that style. I will say this though, even if it is made for radio pop music, it's not necessarily a bad thing that main stream music is pushed in a more instrument-centric direction as that opens the doors for other bands to move in, like it did after 80s pop.
