Tickets is 🔥

it’s like pop punk mad libs. It’s a fun retro pastiche altogether with some great guitar work (courtesy of whoever) and strong melodies. The rest of the MGK punk pivot sucks but there’s a cadence and consistency to tickets. It’s a really solid record.

this is coming from someone who hated the manufactured Feldy era. I guess the difference is that prime blink actually had agency/originality, and MGK had none of that. He was, as @Champ182 once put it, putting on a pop punk Halloween costume. I guess not taking it seriously is why I’ve enjoyed it.

Nothing wrong with enjoying whatever you want to enjoy. I was just trying to take a few friendly jabs at Jan. The older I get the less I care what makes other people happy…it seems dumb to have ever cared. Now, if you want to start telling me MGK is a genius then that’s another discussion, lol. Personally, he is so repulsive to me. I hear his voice and I have to turn that shit off.

MGK might just be a genius.

Pivoting from Rap to Pop Punk to country pop or whatever he’s on now should not be taken lightly.

You gotta try harder than that if you want to trigger mature Diddy 😘😅

What do you guys think of the new Yellowcard stuff? Produced/drummed by Travis, apparently:

Didn’t know it was out yet. Will have to listen later just because I’m curious of the production quality. I’m sure the drumming is solid, what does the production sound like?

edit- just stumbled upon a clip of “Better Days” on IG…and yup…sounds like the stereotypical Travis production, right down to the flanger on the drums smh. Dudes gotta learn some new tricks

Ya sounds exactly the same as all the other stuff Travis produces. Think he learned way more from Feldy than he ever did from Jerry Finn.

Every song sounds the same by Travis since his Tickets to my Downfall breakthrough.

These are no different.  Just added a cheap violin for Yellowcard, of course.  That's soo Yellowcard.

Better Days sounds good though.  The production actually sounds pretty good here.

Better Days is the only one I heard and it sounds like shit. Same overproduced drums with flanger effect and same pattern he plays on Edging. Shits fucking lame

You can barely hear it because of Travis though, it feels like a deliberate joke to cover up the only thing that makes you figure out this is Yellowcard and not 25 other different bands.

One thing I’m hating about Travis’ production is the repetitive thing in every song he does where the music always stops a little before the chorus.

Isn’t the singer like the only original thing from Yellowcard now though? I remember they made such a big deal about the band ending and now they’re back. Feels cheap.

That farewell tour was a big deal and Cheerio (we miss you) went to a lot of shows. But some bands are just burned out from touring so they call it quits and then a few years later they reunite because they've run out of money.

It’s not about the notes you play, it’s about the notes you don’t play ;)

Not sure if this is the right spot, but the new Turnstile album is lame. Has a couple decent songs but that’s it. Makes sense when you realize the main song writer isn’t in the band anymore. Definitely sounds like they tried to write and album that sounds like Turnstile, rather than just writing an album, if that makes sense.

Oh man that's crazy I didn't realize that. I don't know a lot about them other than the fact that they've been blowing up.
