Click Track Jack Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Yea, didn’t their guitarist leave? I’m assuming that was the main song writer then. Just started trying to get into them myself by listening to Glow Up or whatever that album is called Quote
Elisa Posted June 6 Posted June 6 They are so much better than this, I wasn't expecting a hardcore album by any means, but they were supposed to push boundaries and they ended up rehashing their last album with the same melodies, a different guitar tone and some delay effects here and there. 2 1 Quote

So many of the songs sound exactly like their old stuff. The album sounds so stale and just like a worse version of the last one. 1 Quote
Click Track Jack Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Jan did tell me that he thinks this was Turnstile’s best album yet and his favorite album of the last decade, so maybe I’ll hold out hope. Quote
Coddled Jan Posted June 6 Posted June 6 "Oh wow hip hop rock it's so cool" is exactly what I said after watching/listening to their first big album. I never disliked or liked them, liked a few songs, hate the overhype. Quote

You really need to venture outside of MGK because let me tell you son, he is not real rap or hip-hop….he is teeny bopper pop. Quote
Knapppers Posted June 6 Posted June 6 It’s crazy how many fans are praising this as an amazing album. It’s extremely mid and disappointing. Quote
Coddled Jan Posted June 7 Posted June 7 I feel like Knapton doesn’t like the new Turnstile album. Quote

Because it’s an album for the new fans (although gatekeeping new fans is corny) - I personally hope I’ll change my mind about it, maybe in the future when I revisit the album - and I let people like it if they like it because there is way worse music to hate on. Turnstile are good people and it’s great to see them succeed, and even more so if you consider that they are a hardcore band. 1 Quote

I like the old stuff and the new stuff so I just want them to make good music. I don’t care which style it is. 1 Quote
boxelder Posted June 7 Posted June 7 i love seein' stars, but that's because it's basically tame impala. the rest of the singles i heard were just extremely bland. i feel like writers/journalists have been coddling them with light praise because everyone knows the band lost a huge asset in ebert. and it's really sad, too... band blows up huge, makes biggest hardcore album ever, guitarist chooses drugs over the band. so you want to root for them. and the visuals are cool, the songs sound great... but the riffs are just missing, and the songs just meander. again, that's based off my impression of the singles, but i haven't heard promising things about the rest 1 Quote
