It adds atmosphere ffs. Who the fuck wants to watch sport in empty stadiums? It’s really not hard to understand. I don’t know if you’re a sporty person but sports need atmosphere pal

I get it if you're there in person it's fun to be part of a crowd but on TV it makes no difference to me.

The atmosphere from a passionate crowd is great and definitely carries over on TV, but it's pretty peripheral to my enjoyment watching at home.

I mean I've been watching livestream concerts throughout the pandemic with no crowds. In person it's great fun to be a part of an energetic audience but meh, I don't care if I'm at home, whether it be concerts or sports (though admittedly I'm not a big sports person anyway)

Definitely made the six nations really weird to watch earlier this year, I get it.

Normally love the Olympics but the lack of crowd and the nonsense with the masks has put me off. I’ve watched bits of it but not as interested as past games

Tell us you're a covid denier without telling us you're a covid denier

most players / fans i've seen / interacted with have straight energy, actually. probably less of a stereotype than lacrosse.

I really wish we had softball in the UK.

i love baseball, but softball's smaller field and fewer innings increase the pace and that makes it so fun.

@Elisa an Italian 100m winner? Fucking madness. Didn’t you guys smash the world record in the cycling too. I watched the gymnastics floor this morning that the Italian girl came second, she’s 30 years old and never won an Olympic medal in 4 attempts, was a nice moment.

Canada?

In my experience, yes, but I don't know if that's the case across the country. I've also heard Americans say the same thing, so it might come down to the particular city or state/province. It also could be a bit of an age group thing. With most women's sports, it seems like the concentration of lesbians tends to go up after college.

probably - historically our best college teams come from the west coast or the south, and at least in the latter the huge southern belle energy feels like it cancels out the queer women energy, haha.

There aren't many open lesbians around here, so I don't associate it with that necessarily, but softball definitely attracts a certain type of woman. When I was in high school there were girls on the team who "chewed" tobacco by putting it between their toes lol.

Oh yes, he's a fucking champ. Yesterday was a great day for us with those two gold medals within 10 minutes of each other in athletics.
I'm also proud of Vanessa Ferrari and her silver medal at 30 years old this morning. And last week we had our swimmer Federica Pellegrini (class 1988) with her 5th and last Olympic final in 200m freestyle since Athens 2004.

I watched that race last night....probably the last person in the field I expected to win based on physical appearance.. he seemed kind of husky for a sprinter lol
