There are no real rules for nominations, just try to keep them reasonably within the emo genre. I'd suggest nominating about 10 songs each, but again that's not a strict rule... if you want to nominate more or less, that's fine. Also, if you've already posted your list and you see a song someone else nominated that you really like, you can second it without having to remove anything from your own list. The goal is to get 32 songs with at least 2 people nominating each of them.

where is the get up kids? the promise ring? mineral? christie front drive? texas is the reason? american football? braid?

where are the emo bands, basically.

and i only see one track from jimmy eat world and it's not even on one of their emo albums

Best emo SONG not best emo BAND.

Bands that don’t traditionally fit as “emo” can still write songs that fit in with the genre.

Nominate next time. There's definitely some head scratchers but definitely a good chunk of emo bands and songs in there.

Texas is the reason, American football are in there.

Also, the voting threads all have the songs posted to listen to, I've picked up a few new ones in each competition

It’s down to nominations, so it’s down to everyone to nominate stuff.

Vindicated beating Ohio is a fucking farcical tbh

Especially in an emo competition, Ohio was THEE song for weeks if not months for the genre, as much as I hated it

@Nasa suggested best pop punk album.

I swear we did this already. Wasn't it Dookie vs Enema or am I drunk?

Down for album otherwise, any comp is a comp.

Best blink lyrics? Best blink influencer? Best Neighborhoods/DED song (might have done)? Worst pop punk band?

Pop punk album would be good and then we should do sex positions

We should make up sex positions based on pop punk albums.

yeah, this is why it bugs me every time someone says "this band isn't emo so i'm voting for the other one" even though the specific song we're supposed to be voting on actually is emo (or pop-punk in the last bracket)

Hands Down, No It Isn’t, Sic Transit Gloria… Glory Fades and Sweetness are the final songs to move on to second next round.

Here’s the updated bracket…

The second round is starting a little late because of the boards' down time today.

Genre policing is boring.

Emo has become such a wide genre since the mid 80s that everyone has a different definition of it. I think it becomes the most confusing when people use the adjective emo to refer to music and aren't talking about the genre. I have no idea where Jan is coming from in this thread though. Saves the Day might be the band that glues the emo genre together.
