Matt was great during the initial fill-in for Tom shows. Kind of got fucked over (from a plan for his place in the band perspective, not financially) and then became a little bland, screamed of just a performer collecting money type of vibes, purely a job from there on out. I hope we really are getting what we're anticipating here (CRAZY IF TRUE) and can finish this chapter and appreciate him for that part of it and for really putting up with zero identity in the band for quite some time. It's not the energy that Tom is bringing. It's just having the founder with Makr back, the band that we know and love, golden dynamic, humor and everything that comes with it. The coolness, even if the music stinks a bit. I think we all have pretty low expectations for the music or shows even, we just want to see them together again. The friendship is just something we crave. It's almost like watching a favorite show's characters. The Office was out of ideas by the end of it, but we still wanted to see Michael, Dwight, and the whole main crew back. Honestly though, Tom has sounded pretty good on the recent releases. Not pre-neighborhoods good, but good enough to still tug at the pop-punk fandom heartstrings. Not to mention the existence of guitar that's lacking. Mark is still fine, and Travis can still Travis on the drums. JUST LET US HAVE THIS DIDDY. Our lives are rough enough as it is. 3 2 Quote

I saw a video (maybe a Modlife stream, I don’t remember) where David Kennedy said Tom’s voice suddenly changed in the middle of recording We Don’t Need to Whisper, which is why on that album there are some songs that sound like “old Tom” and some songs that sound like “new Tom.” 2 1 Quote
