I've always felt like Tom's voice has gone through different eras. From Cheshire Cat all the way until BCR he sounded the same on albums. I think he tries different things for the smiley face album such as shouting verses like Feeling This & Stockholm Syndrome or talking verses like Violence. He sang a little bit more softer too on some songs. He started losing that nasal edge to it during then but his voice still sounded close especially on songs like Obvious.

I still think he sounded kinda close on AVA's first album too, but his voice definitely was more deep sounding. It was kinda like a natural progression from the the Cheshire Cat-BCR era, smiley face era to the first AVA album. Then i-Empire came out and he sounded completely different. In the I-Empire up to the Neighborhoods/Love era he kept that kinda voice then the Dream Walker era his voice completely changed again. I feel like on Lifeforms he sounds completely different to anything before that too.

There’s a very noticeable change in his normal talking voice when comparing the Urethra Chronicles/Riding In Vans With Boys documentaries and the Start The Machine/Pursuit Of Tone documentaries. I really like his soft vocal approach he uses on songs like Anomaly and Invisible Parade. But I’m just a sucker for his acoustic tracks.

assuming tom is indeed back, there’s another thing that differentiates this go-round than the last: mark and trav have asserted themselves. tom bullied the band in 04 and less obviously so between 09-14. not only did mark and trav continue without him, they scored a grammy nod, had several successful tours, two fairly successful albums, a few hits, and more. they proved they don’t really need him, however we all feel about it. so this time i think they’re bringing more to the table.

He had that “we are edging closer” post and then a few hours later those posters were seen in New York. 

What are the chances blink are using him to promote the comeback? Ugh.

Zero no one at a label would touch that guy to do official work. But im sure there’s plenty of people in the know willing to leak to him.

It would be hilarious if they did a new music video that had a bunch of small throwbacks to their older videos, but now were self-deprecating on their older age. Whatever they’re doing, the marketing behind this is so much better than in 2009.

I mean trav is married to a kardashian dude only flies private. Could fly in and out in 24 hours. Don’t know what it means since it’s not like this woman is a super fan and just a random ass thing to remember. It’s also important to remember that the people of Pittsburgh don’t own phones
