blink's banter between songs is like stand up comedy, I'd take that, Tom's cracking voice during OMT live and some backing tracks over Green Day's phony antics hands down.

They're still one of the most solid live bands in the world, but all the extra stupid stuff they do instead of just playing music is so irritating. They turned their songs Shout and King For A Day into two 15 minute long songs, Billie Joe screams "I say ehhh ohhh" every two seconds, plus a lot of other repetitive stuff in general. 

I've seen Green Day 5 times through they years and I managed to catch a lot of songs they usually don't play live (Burnout, Coming Clean, Letterbomb, Going To Pasalacqua, Scattered, Jaded etc.) so I'm done with their shows now. Unless they decide to do a Warning, Nimrod or Insommiac anniversary tour. In that case, I'd probably go to hear those songs.  

Yeah I had no idea they did this until I saw them live first time last year and was looking around if anyone else was getting bothered by Jaded or whatever it was going on for 15 minutes and half their songs getting extra extended.

It really takes you out of the concert and makes you a bit self conscious because it’s so long and awkward.

When I hear older Green Day songs, I get imagery in my head of whatever the song is about and love it.  

When I hear newer Green Day songs, the imagery in my head is just washed up dudes playing Green Day songs.

It really is so awkward and I think it got worse in recent years, 2017 really ruined it for me because they played a show 30 minutes away from where I live and I felt like had to go because  for once I didn't have to drive 2 or 3 hours to see a band I like, but it was kinda embarrassing and it felt like time stopped and they kept doing the same thing over and over. We didn't leave, but after the show we all agreed that we were done with Green Day live. 

Another thing I notice, at least in my country, is that when blink comes here their shows and the crowd basically have the same energy you would get if you go to a straight up punk rock show (NOFX, Rancid or Bad Religion, Lagwagon), with people moshing, jumping and singing - Green Day shows are just people standing there, looking at their phone and watching the band on stage like you're seeing U2 or Coldplay. Blink always wins because everyone has fun with them.

I had a similar experience.  I saw Green Day in September '22 and said it was my last ..

Without Jerry Finn there would be no modern pop punk. Without him there wouldn't be blink, but neither would Green Day...

As for Tom DeLonge, if it is true that he cannot play live and sings even worse, he has been a co-writer of successful albums in the following genres: skate punk, pop-punk, post hardcore, alternative punk, space rock, and as a fifty-year-old he has written an album of a level that he has been able to reach for about twenty years...

I don't think BJ has the same creativity and ability to alternate multiple genres in the studio. When he did it (Warning, 21st Century Breakdown, Father of All Motherfuckers) he certainly wasn't very successful.

Yeah I think it would be more accurate to say that without Green Day there would have been no Superproducer Jerry Finn. If I remember right he was an engineer/mixer on Dookie, not the producer, and it was the success of Dookie which allowed him to go start producing and honing his craft.

EDIT: the producer of Green Day's magical run of albums from 1994-2004 was Rob Cavallo

Without Green day there would be no Super Finn.  Without Super Finn there would be no prime Blink.  Without prime Blink there would be no trials and tribulations to follow.  Without the trials and tribulations, there would be no Hurt/Hurpentine.  And we would have no mt. rushmore of interludes set forth on OMT.

In the past UAN always sounded like a mess live, but I think the autotune they're using now is what makes the song finally sound good at the shows.
