One More Time… Pre-Release Discussion

Before this tour I never would have guessed they could have a run into their 50s and beyond as a live band. But clearly they have turned things around in a HUUUUGE way and their live show is (arguably) the best it's ever been. They sound incredible, it's fun, they genuinely *look* good which makes a difference as these bands hit their 40s/50s, and people from all walks of life are coming out of the woodwork to be a part of it all. They're absolutely killing it.

If the album is awesome and spawns even more legitimate hits, the sky is the limit for them as one of the best kind of "aging bands" for their generation.

I don't see this as a final tour or final album. Mark & Travis literally are blink for life. Whether that's with or without Tom, they'll both continue to be in blink. I think it'll mean more breaks in between album releases if it's with Tom though as Tom will have his usual projects like AVA and the TTS stuff. Mark will probably have side things like Simple Creatures and Travis will continue producing pop punk albums for rappers.

Their kids are adults now and living their own lives. It's like how they were back in 1992-02 before they became dads. Becoming parents changed the dynamics of the band (along with BCR and other shit obviously).

Blink seem to be a healthy band again. This is nothing like the reunion era and Neighborhoods era. Tom seems like he's in a happy marriage with a wife that seems supportive. Mark's wife has always been supportive and Travis also seems to be super content. All three dudes are living their best lives again.

The energy and vibes are just way too good for it to be one last hurrah for them

My dad just went to see Beautiful South and he’s in his 60s. I plan on still seeing blink at that age.

If there’s money on the table and they’re getting along then they’ll keep playing.

Well, fuck me, that sounds like a good time.

Spoiler

Or have me, for the PG version.

i don't think they have to fully retire if they don't want to. as long as travis can keep playing the way he does (or alter it somewhat over time with age), and the members stay healthy why shouldn't they? descendents still playing. big rock stars in their 70s and 80s still going out. even those who retire do one-off shows or small weekend runs. as long as things stay right i think we'll see plenty of the band for the rest of our lives.

When they turn 70 they need to put "Grandpa" into the set.

What if there isn’t one?
I get a final vibe with this tour, being world wide and all.

With how Tom manages his finances and TTS, I feel pretty confident that they will continue touring. They missed out on a lot of prime years given the multiple breakups, pandemic, etc that they probably are motivated to keep the gravy train going.

Yeah I don’t get how anyone can have a “feeling” that this is the last hurrah for blink. That’s not a feeling, it’s just pessimism. Which, to be fair, is completely warranted with this band. But there’s been literally no indication from anyone in the blink camp that this is their last tour and/or album.

Probably an underlying desire for them to end from the hater type fans as well.

I kind of view this era as a new beginning myself. It’s the first time since the early 2000s that they haven’t hated each other lol.

After reading that Tom travelled and spent like 4-5 days per week with them for recording I did too.

Guess the benefits of having to wait 14 months for the show I bought tickets for is that by that time it could we be a tour with a few new songs thrown in.

Oh sweet summer child, has Blink ever really toured new songs? Maybe NH. I don’t recall them touring much of California and I believe the abandoned NINE to remarket it as an Enema reunion tour?

7 Cali/deluxe songs here. Just under 1/3 of the set all new. As you said they did it with neighbourhoods too. When I saw them in 2013 here it was first shows after Dogs Eatjng Dogs ep and we got 3 of those songs plus neighbourhoods songs.

Im not expecting a set full of new songs but by February next year the album should be well and truly out with a few singles released too. Wouldn’t be too surprising to get edging + a few of those at the shows next year.

Damn that’s a pretty good set list right there. Didn’t realize they ever played Parking Lot live. All Hail Parking Lot!!!
