To me this tour doesn’t seem any different than the original reunion tour. The 2009 tour was full of the same life and everyone so happy it happened just a couple months after the Grammy announcement and then no music came after is when people started to be like what’s going on here.

This feels way different than Neighborhoods era.

I love Neighborhoods, because I'm a hip little bitch, but this is way different.  Neighborhoods was essentially its own extension of blink - bleak/AvA rooted/different/tension still existed but to the side a bit/tired/but unique.

This feels like 8/10 prime blink, friends again, hatchets buried, having fun again, but older

My point is you would have been talking this same way in 2009. It wasn’t until well after that anyone questioned that they still had beef and things weren’t going well. They have a better live performance and Tom seems more laid back, and they made the smart decision to release at least one song to promote the tour this time (they had up all night in a releasable state before the 2009 tour and then reworked it). Tom grabbing marks balls shouldn’t be an indicator of how close they are, they were running around stage doing and saying outrageous shit on the 2009 tour as well.

My point wasn’t that things aren’t different, things certainly seem better now no doubt about that and hopefully that continues to be true; but we also felt the same way in 2009 I was here. It’s totally revisionist history.

Just for fun I did look back at 2009 shows and there were some moments between Mark and Tom where they were being silly (like Tom looked like he was sniffing Mark before stick his tongue out at him during WMAA (10:36 of this video) even did the hug between Mark and Tom here at this show (incase it didn't embed properly they hugged at 16:56)

Though Tom was pushing AvA heavily during that time versus now where Tom isn't really pushing anything during blink (other than TTS, but that's no different than Macbeth or Atticus at this point (as far as I'm concerned))

Anyone who doesn’t get that this reunion is different to the first one is a few crayons short of a box.

We got a song immediately, shows sound great and Tom obviously cares. We’re in a much better spot now than we were then.

I guess I did say I think it's no different this time around but I was more so referring to i guarantee you everyone was feeling the same way back in 2009. Everyone was over the moon and thought it was so great. People say Tom was pushing AvA like crazy but people were bitching Tom was wearing to the stars shirts at the start of the tour.

Obviously we felt things in 2009...just like every iteration of Blink is going to be different in its own right.

Even Self Titled era, I feel as do many, was way different from anything prior, band chemistry and musically.  We just were ready for that 'darker' change and tension at the time.  I think most of us are happy it's back to lighthearted blink between them all.

Like I said, they feel like 8/10 prime early 2000s blink, back to having fun and enjoying themselves while also being super famous and taking advantage of that with ridiculous levels of dick joke humor.  8/10 because they simply are old and will never be the exact same after all the turmoil.  But, they are also old in the sense they seem past it, and having a real 'comeback' and final (in my guess) hurrah.

Preaching to like the 2 people that don't get this.

Also, they sound like shit on that STFK.  Fucking horrible, forgot how bad they were live in NH era.

I was alive in 2009, and while I was heavily into listening to Neighborhoods and DED every day in college, I can tell you I was stomach sick and uncomfortable listening to them on Leno or w.e their first appearance was back then.  I remember thinking they had completely changed and were tired, slow, and duller live, but I still listened to NH every day.  I remember it definitely being more a downbeat time..

Definitely feels like a different time, it's not close.  I've felt Tom has completely changed since Dream Walker/Chasing Shadows, and then again with Rebel Girl tbh.  That was such a different 'I'm old now and over my pretentious shit' vibe to me.  And Tom's in or outness is what dictates blink.

There was 1 maybe 2 people here who bitched about the TTS shirt. Most people just laughed and moved on very quickly. The Ava gear was way more insulting and dishonest as he was delaying blink to do Ava whereas this time around it isn’t the same.

Remember the first live performance we saw on tv back then? Horrid. Compare it to the reaction of the Coachella show. We were cumming like crazy.

Huge difference.

The two reunions aren't even comparable. In 2009 we saw AvA's Tom still pushing his band into blink, saying terrible things on the press ("blink pays the bills, AvA is what I really love", "me and Mark are more business partners than friends") and still working on two albums with AvA instead of working on Neighborhoods. Everybody here knows well that they didn't work together on that album as they are doing in this era.

They seemed tight live but never played like they are doing now, and Tom was always drunk and seemed out of place all the time. The only moment when Tom seemed really passioned about blink was between the 2012 summer tour (when he made a post saying that blink was ready to work as he dreamed about) and the recording of DED.

I know that a lot of people are bummed because of the 06/02 fiasco, but there's a totally different vibe in these days.

During the 2009 reunion they weren't even able to release a single song and took 2 years to release an album because they wouldn't work on it as they should. Today they are pushing the release back because they want to take care of every detail, as they are doing with their live shows: everyone is surprised by the production, their playing, their sound, and Tom singing as 20 years ago.

Remember how often Mark used to talk about the “negative tension” in the band but how they use that tension in a good way? That was always so depressing to hear. That alone makes this time around feel so much better.

Yeah there was all kinds of stuff like that last time. So different now.

7 Cali/deluxe songs here. Just under 1/3 of the set all new. As you said they did it with neighbourhoods too. When I saw them in 2013 here it was first shows after Dogs Eatjng Dogs ep and we got 3 of those songs plus neighbourhoods songs.

Im not expecting a set full of new songs but by February next year the album should be well and truly out with a few singles released too. Wouldn’t be too surprising to get edging + a few of those at the shows next year.

No reason to not play at least 3-4 new songs off a new album, most of your bigger bands tend to do this no reason blink shouldn't as well.

During NH era all the updates we got were from Mark, and it was him on his own for the most part

remember how pathetic it was when mark would do those studio updates completely alone, aside from chris holmes?

i remember that first quote, but that second one is a new one for me. do you remember by chance what interview that was from? that's a hugely damning quote.

Everyone has their own experiences and memories from the first reunion, but yeah I definitely remember feeling kinda sheepish because I was SO pumped, shouting from the rooftops when the news came out and when they were going to perform on the Tonight Show, and then the vibe of most of my friends who had been Blink fans in the golden years were like "uhhh they sound fucking awful and Tom still seems like an entirely different person" haha.

Compare that to the current situation, again just my experience, but the few people in my world who cared at all were cautiously happy to hear that Tom was back, and then during the Coachella set I was getting texts from people I hadn't heard from in years saying "ARE YOU WATCHING THIS? THIS IS AMAZING, THEY'RE REALLY BACK"

Unfortunately I can't find it but I remember it well because Tom was a bit too brutal.

Yeah and compare that to the Coachella performances this time around.

But yeah, completely the same as 09 for sure.
