The funny thing is, none of this is Mark or Tom or Travis's job. They don't sit down and come up with announcement countdowns and website video loops and alarm clock animations and posters to put up in random record stores, the Blink Business and the record label employ people to make all of this PR/media/hype/rollout stuff happen.

Other than the decision not to do any press over the past year, I don't really put any responsibility on the actual band. People are getting paid professional money for this silliness. It's like the marketing gurus forgot to have anything ready a month ago and just said "AHHH WE WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE OUR CAMPAIGN READY TODAY?? FUCK IT JUST GO WITH THE ROUGH DRAFT"

Just another thing to add to a long list of letdowns with this band lately. It's not even surprising at this point anymore.

GURU 1: "Ok the alarm clock thing, weren't we going to have it display the album release date??"

GURU 2: "Well yeah, when is the release date??"

GURU 1: "I don't know either, uhhh just make it flash 12:00!"

GURU 2: "AM or PM??"

GURU 1: "...I don't care just get the fucking clock on the website and the fans will try to figure it out like it's an episode of LOST!!!"

I don't blame the band. The label and marketing people are fucking morons.

GURU 1: "Do we have the social media team dropping hints and easter eggs getting people excited?"

GURU 2: "_____________"

GURU 1: "Well??"

GURU 2: "Sir can I interest you in a single fan instagram account geared toward Italians?"

The marketing is actually really good IMHO this reuinion/tour/album, it's just the execution is pretty bad.  No one has unlimited patience.

Are you saying that if they decided to do this for another year or two before releasing music that you wouldn’t still check it out and be excited when it comes?

Frankly, after living through the nightmare that was waiting for Neighborhoods to get created and released; this has all felt like a cakewalk. We immediately got a song with announcement that the new album was being made, and despite lack of communication, it's still clear that they're all excited to be making this album.  I'll take this single year for an album's creation over the 2+ it took for Neighborhoods to get done any day.

Hello Mark discord moderator, yes, I would still check out the music, that would be silly not to.  No need to annoy your fans in the meantime.  It does hinder the musical experience some.  Image/likability is part of why we like these guys, let's be honest.  If all of a sudden they are pompous arrogant pricks, their music is less fun too.  This ain't betthoven.

I'm so glad I didn't know anything about Neighborhoods until it was up on Youtube.  Bliss.
