Prejudiced against who exactly? People who think they know everything?

You’re the only once acting like you know everything, and that people can’t have different opinions than you on art.

Not liking the style they’ve chosen is fine but saying the production is bad feels wrong tbh. I highly doubt the band and production team didn’t listen to the final product and think it didn’t sound exactly like they wanted it to.

Some people enjoy the glossy poppier sound and some don’t. But if that’s the sound the band wanted then the production on it was good.

The production on Edging is fine, you’re smoking crack otherwise

It's fine the guitars just don't bang as much as they could.  I just love that loudness off Untitled and such, I'm being selfish.

I don't know jack shit about it, but going to assume if it passes through the band members, record label, teams of professional audio engineers, and is good enough to be #1 on alt radio for multiple weeks it may be "ok."

Yeah for sure, clearly Edging achieved what they wanted by getting everybody hyped about the reunion and tour. It fucking dominated the charts for months while they worked on the album, and there's a decent chance that a more raw/guitar-heavy mix wouldn't have been able to catch on with the public as well.

There is no doubt that Mark and Travis know exactly what the current music industry trends and standards are with this stuff, and it comes out perfectly calibrated to match other popular stuff on the radio and streaming services.

I think one of the main issues is that Blink’s production from California onwards (although Nine was a huge improvement) has been streamlined a lot based on moving towards digital programs. It’s not unique to Blink as it seems like most artists do this now. It just seems a bit lazier and less heart and soul go into the songs, like compare California to any Finn produced song where he spent hours reorganizing mics around Travis’ drum kit. That obsessive devotion is very noticeable, especially when you listen to a song hundreds of times.

If Tom was on California and Feldmann wasn't producing or known of no one would be complaining about the production.  It's just another way for people to pile dirt onto that era of the band.

(yes this is a hypothetical)

Arguing against criticism of production style based on an appeal to authority and commercial success is dumb. Same logic applies to any other art form, like if I were to say that the new Jurassic World movies suck and the CGI stands out in a bad way, you could rely on the same stupid argument. It doesn’t hold much water but thanks for coming out

Disagree. I was hyped as fuck for the Skiba era as I enjoy Alk3 and was excited for new Blink music again. I still appreciate it for what it was, but the production pales in comparison to their previous work. I get why they did it, but there are genuine issues in terms of how compressed and robotic it can sound

Edging is a nice fun song, viewing it as a high brow work of art is weird. We're listening to blink-182 guys, the song has a line about fucking a girl at church

Blink 182 is a nice fun band. They run around naked and make dick jokes on stage. Viewing them as art is weird. Spending thousands of hours discussing their material on an online message board is bizarre. Should probably just delete this whole place tbf

Sorry for wanting this shell of a band to have some resemblance to being an actual rock n roll  band again, instead of just straight pop.

Someone here should remix it so I can hear what it should sound like

Once again, nobody here said they could produce the music better. Gonna have to start calling you Oliver now.

There are people who think McDonalds isn't healthy food even if it's one of the biggest food chains in the world. Also, many people do not like food at Michelin restaurants even if a tire company picked them out as a good restaurant.

Yeah it's possible. After Neighborhoods (which I loved) I was definitely hoping they would work with a producer who could keep them focused and recapture some of their happy go lucky vibes on the next album... hahah. BUT at the same time, I wasn't exactly picturing California, or Tom's god awful "demos" album.

I still think their sweet spot nowadays could be embracing their 80s pop/new wave influences more. I think they did that a little bit on Neighborhoods with Ghost and After Midnight, and even This Is Home and a couple others. We know they grew up loving bands like The Cure and New Order, who had a great way of blending ultra melodic pop with heartfelt lyrics and cool arrangements and riffy guitar and bass parts, which is kinda the foundation of what we ALL want from Blink in one way or another. I'd love to hear them dig more into those shared past influences together rather than try to recreate Enema vibes again, or chase current trends.

Again this is just my own wish fulfilment haha but I hear a lot of overlap with Blink in songs like these:

He gets very upset and goes into full retard mode when people have genuine criticism on his favourite things. It’s like it’s an attack on his character or something lol super weird
