Sounds nothing like Wildfire or RG in the chorus.  Both which are a great choruses mind you.  It does sound California-ey in the chorus because the OH! NO! Broken hearted stuff but it's clearly a step ahead having Tom back.  There will definitely be some songs on this album everyone can enjoy, mark my words.

I was thinking of Misery actually. But i agree. My mind was just thinking that because of the started/broken-hearted rhyme.

It's a fine song, nothing groundbreaking, but its fine.  Not gonna lie though, when Bored To Death dropped, that was genuinely a very great day through and through, say what you will about Matt and Feldy, but that's a great song no matter how you slice it.  Of course Blame It On My Youth was nothing special at all (funny how I feel opposite about both albums compared to their lead single, California is the far weaker album than Nine in my opinion, but had the significantly better lead single).

If I'm being completely honest, this might be the weakest lead single while Tom has been in the band ever.  Cuz let's see, we have: M&Ms, Apple Shampoo (or Dammit if you don't count songs without videos), What's My Age Again, Man Overboard, The Rock Show, Feeling This, Not Now (I can count Greatest Hits if I want! Likewise for TMTTS), Up All Night, and Boxing Day.  I don't think I'm exactly saying anything shocking when I say this song is not as good as any of those songs.

Also is anyone else kinda reminded of the song Spirit in the Sky?  For some reason my mind keeps wanting to turn this song into that one lol.

Finally listened… uh… meh. I hope it grows on me but I’m not a big fan of this at all lol. Hearing Up All Night for the first time was like a feeling of pure ecstasy, even though in the end I don’t think that’s an especially great song. I listened to that song 80 times on the first day it was released. I don’t really feel the need to listen to this one again right away.

I can’t believe Tom is back in blink and I’m so apathetic about the song and I’m not going to their reunion tour because they’re skipping my state and I’m angry about the outrageous ticket prices. Such a boner kill situation for me! Still very excited for the new album and to see videos of them live, but wow, this is not nearly the exciting event I hoped it would be for me.

If i'm going to be completely honest after many many listens to this (and many brews) the thing that is annoying me most is travis' drums.  they're simple compared to usual blink, which i'm ok with... but it's the digital drums with the over perfect same sound every hit that is annoying.  i miss the drums when they sounded like drums recorded analog, maybe this is old fuddy duddy me hating, but its the one thing that keeps annoying me

It's strange we've never had a pure Tom song as the lead single.

Totally. They're just so not Travis in Blink drums.

yeah this sucks about a lot of music now, the drums are so time aligned and sample replaced that it may as well have just been done with a drum plugin. when you listen to the drum tracks alone especially they sound terrible

some level of sample replacing etc was around back in the enema days but it's gotten horrendous now

I haven't heard the new song yet though so not sure what it's like. Finish work in a few hours then can finally check it out

Hot take incoming: I genuinely liked every Matt Skiba-era single more on my first listen than I like Edging. And I probably liked most of the AVA singles from that same time period more too.

I mean I would probably agree with this. This is mainly a homerun for me because of the Tom situation. I had largely written him off and he’s been worthless for so long that it’s jarring for me to hear him back on a real blink song. It’s taking me awhile to adjust. I grew up as a tombot so it’s like finding a missing piece to a puzzle.

Those who were too cool for the Skiba era missed out on a lot. There are some turds, but so many great songs too. The good outweighed the bad by far

I wanna get this settled right now…..is it “I lеave the broken hearts this way” or “I lеad the broken hearts this way”??

I leave the broken hearts this way.

The chorus is “No way, no, I leave them broken-hearted. Oh no, look at thе mess we started. Oh no, I lеave the broken hearts this way. Whatcha say? Wanna play?”

Look out, Shakespeare.

Overall I mostly agree, though I think this is probably better than Blame it On My Youth.  They're both in the same ballpark in terms of quality honestly, but I think this narrowly beats Blame it On My Youth as a better single.

For real. It’s funny when people immediately praise some shit like this and act like it’s on par with enema or untitled (even tho I don’t praise untitled I know a lot of people do) or something of that caliber. Enjoy it for what it is, but this is not ground breaking, sick music lol. If it wasn’t blink I’d probably never listen to the song again.
