And even though ded wasn’t their worst (unfortunately), I’ll never understand the hype for it around these parts. All I heard was a step down from neighborhoods, and even at the time, a good 2 yrs before Tom left again mind you, it sounded to me like a band falling apart. Like Tom and mark were in a creative tug of war instead of complimenting each other, and even though they actually worked on it in unison, it sounded even less cohesive and even more disjointed than neighborhoods.

Because When I Was Young was a banger and title track was pretty good. Boxing Day was solid/different. 3/5 is good enough around these parts.

Current tier list 11/16/2024:

S Tier:

1. Enema - Let's face it.  This is the best thing they've ever done.  Is is my favorite album? No.  Is it the most relevant to my life or them at their absolute top of their talents?  No.  But it's the definitive sound they made.  Ground breaking/iconic album.  Personifies skate punk (the popular stuff if going to get on my case here), that so-cal vibe, the music videos, the singles, the blast into stardom.  They weren't too sure of themselves yet, but were confident and made one of the greatest albums.  Enema is their best moment all things considered.

2. Dude Ranch - Where as the next pick is possibly them at their musical heights, and more popular, more sales, Dude Ranch was in essence a perfect album start to finish.  The essence was still there.  Dammit (and Josie for a lot of us as well) really opened things up to a brand new band and sound we've not heard creep into the radio before.  It's hard to find a flaw on this album.

3. Untitled - Self Titled, untitled, doesn't matter.  The album was a creative, darker, magical masterpiece.  It was unlike anything they had ever done and ever did after.  The times were darker, but the music still rocked our socks off.  A near perfect album as well.  One could argue the essence of 'blink' was gone, or at least changed for ever.  A little bit more studio tricks into play is what holds this back slightly from trumping the two above long term.

A Tier:

4. TOYPAJ - They're in their prime.  'Nuff said.  A continuation of Enema, but a little bit heavier this time around.  It's weird to think this was arguably the only release they had in their 'prime' phase and not entering (enema) or leaving it (self titled).  Lots of good songs.  Lots of good memories.  This was the album you played every summer for years.

B Tier:

5. Neighborhoods - Look, I will die on this hill this album is some of their best natural songwriting.  It had context, themes, more mature thought and lyricism than anything else they've really done.  It was a bittersweet moment for a lot of us, the moment we realized blink was not going to be blink really ever again, we are not going to be young forever either.   We all felt that gut punch when a few songs in we realized this was some unpolished, stripped back raw-er side of blink we are really not used to.  On top of all the tensions. Anecdotes of disjointedness. But that's also what makes it such good music the older you get.  Life is messy.  So is Neighborhoods.  Handful of songs are just fantastic helps. DED was a great followup and consider it the same.  Mature album! Ftw!

6. One More Time - Yep, the ultimate banger, comeback album, with lowered expectations and lowered results.  A fun, good time, and some highs that we didn't think we'd reach again.  Also some lows, and a painful amount of filler we've never had in a Tom blink album before.  That's okay though, because the ultimate aura around the band was at an all-time high and made up for a lot of it.  One More Time is more of an experience than an album alone.  Pt 2. was great.  Yes the production is trash, holds this back quite a bit.

7. Chesire - just don't wanna deal with Coight's shit right now.

C Tier:

idk probably some live cut

D Tier:

8. California - Look, it was a solid effort.  The Album had some purpose and the songs on the album stayed true to the theme.  As a standalone album it's really a C tier, but the absence of Tom and the addition of Skiba, neutered, just lowers it significantly.  I had a good time with this album when it dropped, it was fun.  Bored to Death was really a good single at the time (even though the two vocals blended way too similar).  It's cool, just not much there to go back to outside the nostalgia.  Deluxe was only more of the same but more filler.  Good enough songs but felt like a different band, which leads us to..

9. Nine - This isn't blink.  The absolute worst of the worst.  Idc if there's solid songs on this.  I liked Emo Shit, I liked Runaway, I liked Ransom, I liked First Time.  The album has nothing to do with blink.  The music and feel of everything feels nothing remotely resembling blink.  Felt like songwriters wrote this whole thing outside a couple songs, and they were credited to.  The electronic elements are a bit offensive.  Blame It On My Youth was the worst song ever released.  Nine never happened imo.

Alright here we go

1) Untitled - An absolute masterpiece and their magnum opus to this day. Love the darker direction the only skip is I'm lost with you

2) Dude Ranch - Just straight excellent punk tracks

3) Neighborhoods - Yes it doesnt feel cohesive but idc these songs are bangers and a natural evolution of Untitled. Not a single bad track on here. Wish the bridges were more then instrumentals but fantastic album front to back. They have yet to follow up on this sound since which is a shame. As its where i wanted the band to go

4) Enema - I dont think much needs to be said lol. Its enema

5) One More Time - Great album. I feel the vibes around it, the band reuiniting and seeming legit happy elevates this for people. And i get it. In terms of the music, its very good, however very safe and back to basics outside a few tracks. Part 2 is about the same. It's a regressive sound outside a few tracks. But don't get me wrong i love this album and for the first album with the trio in 12 years its awesome

6) TOYPAJ - Not as good as Enema. I do love an attempt at more serious subject material. Dont really have much more to say on it

7) Buddha - Not sure if were counting Buddha as an album but i prefer this to Cheshire just because i like the raw production of it. Every song that was re-recorded for Cheshire i prefer on this record.

8 - Cheshire - Not much to say its solid.

9) Nine - I love going back to darker subject matter, i think this album is very undderrated, some interesting drum beats as well. Only reason it isnt higher is bc i cant put any Skiba albums over the trio. I just cant

10 - California - Fun album, too formulaic, this is way worse then OMT in terms of its regressive sound. There is nothing on here particularly interesting. It sounds like Blink trying to do a cover of themselves.

I like to some extent every blink album. I'd say the Top 6 on my list are excellent then theres a line for the rest
