I can see some of that on the heavy 'slammed' guitars or whatever at times, but they really open it up and can't see it otherwise.  Especially that finalé chorus too, nothing like that on Cali/Nine.  Go back and relisten.  It's so much better than Cali-Nine but then at the same time (negative nancy) Enema or Self Titled will come on and I'll go 'Oh, yeah, this is always going to be hard to top'.

Tbf, Olés are not anything remotely blink-182 before in that manner.  They really nailed them though.  The fact they did that, the risk, is part of what makes them feel like 'blink' again.

This is an awkward agreement but I’m rolling with it. Dance With Me would fit perfectly on California. It’s a more creative version of a song like SOOHM, because Tom is a better and more creative musician than Skiba when he’s in the right mindset.

Where we disagree is that I think the song kicks ass either way.

But I’m fairly certain most people here would be shitting on this one either way without the Tom factor.

Time will tell what’s going on.

You could make a case for a TOYPAJ sound on Dance With Me but otherwise all these new songs still sound like lesser versions of their glory days. However, an inferior blink-182 song is still a blink-182 song so I understand the hype around these new songs - they're not bad (One More Time maybe) but I doubt this new album will be one I'll come back to in the future.
