Reading “childhood and bad news” sound like right from Nine, and not saying FIL, kind of irks me, but shouldn’t be surprised anymore. It’s still a step in the right direction.

My only really negativity I could speak on is that I feel like the song One More Time just felt so half-assed to me. I love the sentimentality and meaning around it. Chorus is catchy. And I really dig all the other singles so far. But I just feel like it’s trying to replicate I Miss You without hitting any of the same peaks as that song. Especially the verses. And I also really feel like an opportunity was missed by not having a bigger ending to the song. That being said, MTYK is everything I could have asked for from blink, so this gripe didn’t really kill any hype for me.

i was told that they're good songs but not as good as the rest of the album

I get what you’re saying, but I don’t care enough with 16 more songs next to it. But the verses did seem half assed

well, listened to the album and I just hate the production. I can't remember if nine was this bad or not, but it feels like a retread of that.

My only complain about this amazing record is that, sometimes, it doesn't breath enough. Needs a little bit more of separation and less peaking, IMO. It needs more dynamics in terms of sound. It's a pleasant listening, don't get me wrong. I'm just nitpicking a little bit here.

The whole album is really clean sounding yet still blown out

You can hear it in songs like Terrified and CHildhood - which is a shame because those songs are kinda neat.

Yeah the mix is just so blown out, the drums literally hurt my ears at times. That's the only bummer about the entire album though, it's incredible. Just wish they would've tweaked the EQs/compression a little bit.

Yeah agreed, it’s not very good production. You can hear that the potential is there for the songs from a songwriting and melodic standpoint, but the execution is a far cry from their glory days.

I've listened to it three times now. One in earphones (FLAC HI-RES source), another one in Spotify (in ear earphones) and another one in MP3 digital release (in my car). They sound fantastic, despite what I've just said. At high volume sounds boombastic. It's very well done.

it’s seriously a shame it sounds this bloated and compressed given how good the songs are. just listen to the chorus of WWWY or childhood — just a blank wall of static

I have no issues with production other than the fact that Edging sounds weird now. There's like a weird glitchy sound at certain parts. I thought it was just the rip, but even on YouTube I heard the album version of Edging have a weird sound to it.

Tom vocally also seems to be trying too hard in .. well most of his parts. Like his vocals on Even If She Falls is a new-ish version of his voice that i think works super well as it has that Tom edge but he's more relaxed and confident in what he's singing. on this record, it sounds like he's making fun of himself in a way. like he has to assert he's still Tom Delonge from blink 182.  

I wonder how much they rehearsed these songs before recording them. usually that can lead to good ideas and vocals sounding more natural and flow better. also generally it can lead to more creativity when singing. 

I hate to beat a dead horse, but finn I think really understood how this band can make absolute gold. you even hear it on the (+44) record in how really awesome it sounds. Chapter 13 sounds absolute massive compared to something like this and I don't think that song is that heavy/huge. it's just the layering of the guitars and everything complimenting each other. 

everything now just sounds so cheap and un-interesting sonically. I feel like I'm just hating on this thing but it really is reflective of how tinny and shitty modern music can sound and it goes largely un-noticed. I have to think that Travis being very into modern hip hop isn't exactly helping.

Mark is almost invisible on this album. Obviously, I understand Mark had to take a backseat because his voice was shot, but damn. The few times we hear Mark's voice it's either drowned out in the mix or it's robotic sounding from correction software. And then the few times we get meaningful lyrics from Mark, the overall songs aren't that good (e.g. You Don't Know What You Got). Plus, I'm not sure I can pinpoint his bass in most songs. Tom and Travis really dominate this album, unfortunately.

I get where people are coming from, but Mark, Tom, & Travis haven't done a 'bit production' album ever, outside of partially TOYPAJ/Self Titled, so it's pretty cool if you just allow it to be (much like letting Neighborhoods be shit/raw/indie quality).

 Some of the drumming and processing at points pisses me off, but production itself really doesn't.  It's 2023, so it's just not going to sound like the old or it might almost feel 'out of place' or stale if they dialed it back, even though we'd love it as diehards a tad better.
