Blink are just a far more interesting band than Green Day in members, sound, albums etc only thing green day have over blink imo is that they’re better live that’s it. I’m biased though obviously

Green day is only great the first time you seen the live imo. I’ve seen them 3 time and walked way from the last one halfway through. Just couldn’t be fucked hearing BJA scream “heeeeeyyyyyyy ohhhhhhhh” into the microphone before getting the crowd to do it too between very second song. Was fun the first show. Second meh. Third yawwwwn

granted it was a festival set list and we’d been on the piss all day but fuck all we wanted to see was some music

Speaking of live shows, has anybody seen this performance? I almost cry every time. If there’s anything that proves how genuine the reunion is, it’s this video.

I could write an essay on Edging, but people still aren't ready for it.  It's like their expectations are still too high and aren't seeing the beauty in it.  Subverted expectations..brought us into the new era by removing all pretentions we have been so used to for years...drunken uncle Tom has arrived and wants to make it clear..  I'll save it.  It's a sneaker/grower forsure, just needs to lose that fucking flanger intro. 

I find that EDGING is just a sassy song that needs that flanger on that simple rock beat. Though I do agree: even in the world of complex songwriting, it's more difficult to understand. Tom speaks cryptically quite a bit, like that fucking crazy uncle who believes in aliens, shoots films and smoked a bit too much cannabis. It's funny 'cuz it's true.

This is truly beautiful. Tom approaching Mark, just his pressence speaks out loud "I'M HERE FOR YOU". Man, this band is now what it should have been all this years. The way Tom just plays his role on this performance is amazing. Mark is on the spot and Tom just does it all to provide support. Great times. I hope this lasts forever.

Matt Skiba seems like a good guy, but he would never write music like this. When Tom, Mark and Travis actually get in the studio and write together, they pretty much produce amazing albums. 

Specially because was not him but Feldy writing. Nah, joking, mate.

Now speaking in general and in all seriousness, Skiba is ace. I love his work in every project he's been involved. I appreciate what he brought to the table for blink, even if it's less than I expected but it came out as it came out. Period. I don't agree with some (lots, in fact) of their choices as a band, but God only knows what the hell would have happened to blink if Mark and Travis didn't decide to go on recruiting Matt. So, kudos for that. Also, no one here can imagine how hard should have been to be filling for Tom in blink. I mean, come on. So I respect the dude TONS for that too. You have to get balls as big as the moon to do that in a band like blink. Can you imagine anyone filling for Chester Bennington in Linkin Park? You all get the idea.

Also, I always wanted to hear a side project by Mark and Matt outside blink's pressure, because I always imagined some kind of dark amazing weird project (in my mind, something beween +44 and AK3). But we got blink featuring Matt and I think that's the closest thing I will hear in that regard.

In my yead, my feelings about the Skiba era are a conflict by themselves, but as I said in other post weeks ago, I love every period of this band. I love to take the albums as photographs of a very specific moment. I mean, I'm that kind of guy who likes Metallica's "St. Anger", so you can get the point.

Ok so… I have one niggling issue with Dance With Me that I reckon will get me eye rolled and crabbed but im curious to see if anyone else had the same thought… 

some of the lyrics feel a lil… off. In a modern era. 

like idk “hope she dont refuse” “you know you want to” both make me a little eyebrow raisy.

I don’t think the song itself has dodge inclinations or think Mark or Tom do either, I just find the lines a little… curious ? 

Tom seems to have a habit of odd choices when it comes to lyrics relating to relationships so it’s not new but idk. I imagine most wouldnt care or notice but my leftie ass had issues ?
