it’s the best payoff because it’s a better part.. but we are allowed to disagree on this.  I think they had it right with the original thought, just wouldn’t have been as “explosive” as a song I guess

I imagine it would be worked through a bit still and not be copy and pasted.

I believe Aaron Rubin said the “ole oles” were the original thought, then they tried using the outro for all of the choruses, then went back to the oles… I might be remembering it wrong though.

To me, it all works just right. The oles are hilariously simple and dumb and yet they somehow work, and that lulls you into a sense of comfort for most of the song… then the outro uses that comfort to smack you in the face and blast off. It’s a perfect climax that takes what happened before and twists it just right, and leaves you with an adrenaline burst at the perfect time. Love it.

Dance With Me is definitely one of Tom's best achievements, if you want to look at it that way (Tom lead song), in a long while.  But I can't see how this is much different than Rebel Girl or Kiss & Tell if it were written with Blink w Mark & Travis on it.

Which are two of my favorite Tom songs in past decade pre-OMT mind you.

That's why I lean a lot more towards Turpentine, WWWY, Anthem 3, MTYK for 'Tom' songs.

Terrified gets an infinite pass because Boxcar featuring Mark goes a lot deeper than AvA. And the song is just fantastic.

I can't see how it's similar to those AVA songs, maybe if you strip back the synths and effects, but they still lack the drive and energy that DWM brings. Maybe it's due to the Mark and Travis seasoning.

That is the seasoning difference.  Travis would amp up those songs speed and energy, and Mark would be Mark.  DWM will always just feel like a Lifeforms-relative song. Not in a bad way, but some of these other songs feel like Tom was holding for Blink all these years, while DWM's lyrics and melodies would be on the next AvA if not reconnected with Blink.

Hurt is the throwback AvA 'song'.  He kind of became more rooted on Lifeforms. So in an essence..it is more blink..because RG and K&T are more blink-spirit than previous AvA..

Also just adds to the mecca that is OMT, a culmination of so many things and aspects of the trio.  So I'm not necessarily knocking it.  Just saying it doesn't click all the blink boxes for me because of that stipulation.  Compared to say, Anthem 3, or YDKWYG, Otherside, are pure blink to me.

I sincerely hope they do Other Side live, would be amazing to see. Best song of the record. Decent chance too since it'd be an homage to Noise. Shows start back up in Februrary I think? They'd better switch the setlist up dammit.

I feel like Mark would get too sad singing that up on stage no?  I fucking would.  Shits pretty deep.

Just wanted to say that this song is still the shit. Probably my favorite on the album, and easily ranks among my favorite blink songs ever. Tom coming back would be worth it for this one song alone. K, I'm gonna go listen to if yet again.

DWM and Other Side are the best songs on the album. Some of the best songs they've ever written actually.

I can’t wait to watch the videos of blink playing DWM in South America. I love this song so much, one of their best songs of all time.

I remember the first time I heard this, and thinking it was pretty meh.

I was SO SO SO wrong.

But, to be fair, I'm still in love with this record. There are not skips for me, only Fuck Face from time to time.

Those song definitely grew on me after a few listens, still think it’s one of the best ones on this album. Love the riffs, and super catchy chorus. All things why we love this band. I will say the only thing I wish Tom would do more is write more guitar riffs like he did back in the day. Yeah you hear them from time to time, but I miss riffs like man overboard, rollercoaster, online songs, dumpweed, ect…other than that this album is in my top three.

The verses, the harmonies, the bass line, the guitars, that guitar breakdown before the bridge, the switch up at the end, just ? *chef kiss* and right after Anthem Part 3, you go into the album like holy shit blink is fucking back. Still puts a big smile on my face.

This is definitely one of the most monumental and unique songs they've done in a long long time.

For some reason I can't get fully into it ever.  I like it, but don't love it.  But love what it is.

I just imagined a whole album of this style they went for here and would dig that.

This is something else I wanted to address. I'm not sure that there is a better One-Two opening punch for a blink album than the first 2 songs on One More Time.  I mean Feeling This and Obvious is up there, but Anthem pt 3 and Dance With Me? Are you kidding me?! Lol

Very good point.

But I always thought blink are really good making choices about songs to open an album. They have this sort of sense about creating momentum that makes your head explode:

- Cheshire Cat opening with Carousel is amazing. That song feels more like a closer, sure, specially having been used as that, but come on... opening an album with THAT tune? Fabulous. Just followed with M&Ms makes it better. Kind of the duo Anthem 3/Dance With Me, but in a classic way.

- Dude ranch opening with Pathetic it's like, come on, give me a break. Puts you there. Right on.

- Enema opening with Dumpweed. CLASSIC. Amazing riff to start a song and a record. One of the best.

- TOYPAJ opening with Anthem 2 is epic. Even better than Dumpweed, IMO.

- Untitled opening with Feeling This is just perfect. Setting the mood, the bar and the moral really high.

- One More Time opening with Anthem 3 was brutal. Top blink.

Then, well... I have my own taste about the 'in between' records. Neighborhoods was a weird beast itself. I love the album for what it meant and was at the toaime, but it was weirdly built as fuck. Ghost on the Dance Floor is a song that fells flat like an opener. Don't know why, it's sort of mid range, not going anywere specifically. But I wouldn't trade it for another one on that record. I guess it was a hard choice. Same happens with DED ep, but it was better executed, IMO.

Then we have the Skiba records. Both openers -Cynical for California and First Time for NINE- are great, but to my ears are not even close to the epicness of songs like Dumpweed, both Anthems 2 and 3 or Feeling This. Between those two, I'd probably put Cynical above First Time.
