Scott. Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Just wish they’d fuck the joke songs off. What is the point in them? I’d rather two more 2 minute bops like this. They could write songs like this in their sleep. Give us two more of these than 2 joke songs 8 1 3 Quote
Jan Mortensen Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 I forgot what California felt like for a second. This one is right off the MGK album. Doesn’t sound like blink, even with Tom. Travis influence galore, late night sneaking Feldmann through the window for help levels. Jan was right. 2 1 Quote
2point5 Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 I'm okay with the joke songs if they're natural and not forced. 2 Quote
Jan Mortensen Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Puts Edging in perspective. That song is nothing like Cali and way more blink. This wasn’t the worst tune in the world, kind of like it, but easily the weakest, and hope only one they wanted to try Cali type pop on. It might sound okay in context of the album actually. 1 Quote

Honestly from what we know about the rest of the songs, I’d venture a guess that this is one of, if not the only song with this vibe on the album. Great song tho 1 Quote

But MGK made a record with this style of throwaway songs produced by Travis. Like to a T, they aren’t saying the vocals, but the melodies, instrumentation, and production. 2 1 Quote
Popular Post Champ182 Posted October 12, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 12, 2023 Seems like Blink almost has had too many offshoots and side projects for some people to just hear a song as Blink anymore haha. So many comments about how the new songs remind them of AVA/Cali/Nine/+44 (ok not that one), or even unrelated artists Travis has worked with. I get it, we haven't had a "pure" Blink release in literally 20 years, but I just try to look at this era and this album as a continuation of all of it, rather than a self-conscious attempt to be one thing or another. Travis likes the style of pop punk he produces, so he is bringing that to the table the same way he introduced hip hop influences to the table 20 years ago. Mark likes modern pop stuff, so he's bringing those melodies and sounds into the mix. Tom ironically seems to be reconnecting with old punk lately, so he's bringing that reckless energy and personality, even in the poppier stuff like Edging and Fell In Love. Unlike the Neighborhoods era when they claimed that they were mixing their new influences but it actually felt like nobody communicated or enjoyed the process, this album so far actually feels like a collaboration between the 3 guys and what they're bringing back home after all their weird time in the wilderness. 9 1 1 Quote

Or in other words, this song kicks ass Exactly, the main difference is, some of us always want blink to stand out and be different. Some don’t care about that aspect as much. For me, I don’t care enough about pop punk, blink is always the exception for me for being different. I know others feel this way as well. Hence not liking something not feeling authentic them. But, this album is showing to be a giant melting pot of everything, which is friggin awesome. Just glad the trashy Cali bots song is only 2 minutes ✌️ 2 Quote
Scott. Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Anyone else thinks it sounds like Post Malone-Chemical? Quote
