allsystemsgo Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 Now this feels like a Ramones song. I actually dug this one. 1 Quote
Thibaut182 Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 They are playing a small club show this week in Paris at the Bataclan, had plans to go but come on 100 € is a complete joke !!!!!! I totally know it's not the band's fault (it's AEG France who is the ticketing service here and are responsible for this disgrace and bullshit). I don't understand this price for a club show, like honestly this is nuts Really 100 € for a club show ?!?! 1 1 Quote
allsystemsgo Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 Song's now added to my playlist. I'm looking forward to the album now, unless the next song tanks the enthusiasm. ? 1 Quote
M!ke Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 New song is alright. I'll certainly give this new album a chance, but my anticipation is at Edging levels: the promise is there, but they just aren't quite delivering in the way that I need them to. With only 1 new song at this point, I'm much more eager for the new Sum 41 album than I am the new Green Day album. But really, it's pretty awesome that it's 2023, and new albums from blink, Green Day, and Sum 41 are all imminent (if not already out in the case of blink). A younger me would be very very appreciative of this time. 1 1 Quote
Thibaut182 Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 I wanted to share this amazing and super interesting mini-doc about the full history of the song "When I Come Around"! Super humbled to see my documentary being credited and mentionned in this video ❤️it really means a lot and a ton! 2 Quote
_Kyle_ Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 hearing the new green day song in taco bell commercials. not sure if it matters but it kind of just sounds so AI generated. just weirdly generic and tinny 1 1 Quote
Thibaut182 Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 New song! Major Shenanigans vibes with this one for sure (the solo part reminded me a lot of the song "Rotting" for some reason) 1 1 Quote
allsystemsgo Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 I like it. Are Green Day considered dad rock nowadays? 1 Quote
Jan Mortensen Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 Better forsure but idk everything feels so phoned in and aimless by these bands now. I don’t mind this one at all though 1 Quote
Monkey Chips Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 2/3 songs that I like isn't bad... Let's see how the rest of the songs go. Quote
Ghost Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 The thing for me about Green Day is that, to me, they are sounding the same since basically the trilogy. They foxboro hot tubbed themselves and that's it. Until American Idiot/21stCB they sounded more diverse IMO. 2 1 Quote
Thibaut182 Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 Hey everyone! I could really use some help! I've been looking to purchase the same exact patch that Tré is wearing on his jacket in the music video (with the 4K upgrade, you can clearly see it much better). This patch is blue and was given to the members of the Idiot Club back in the day and was wondering if anyone has any leads or could help me find one ? Would anyone be able to help me ? I would really appreciate it a lot! On the patch is written idiot which is a reference to the Idiot Club! Thank you so much ? 1 1 Quote

Yeah, after 21st Century Breakdown they just devolved into pure filler, I don't know how to explain it. And it's funny, I remember being so harsh on 21CB when it first came out, but overall it's very solid compared to everything they've released since then. It has a lot of great songs, but it does have a fair amount of filler too, so i would argue that the devolution really began on 21CB but we didn't truly see or appreciate it until the Trilogy just kept being forgettable disappointing release after forgettable disappointing release. I will say though, the latest song here, the 3rd new single, I actually enjoy that one. Maybe there is some life still left in this band after all. They just need to do better and constantly harnessing that energy with their new music. 2 Quote

I don't know what happened, I think they got tired of what they did back in the day and sort of wanted to evolve their sound. Billie Joe is a huge rock 'n' roll fan, so it makes sense, so they kind of tested it in Foxboro Hot Tubs and then extended it to Green Day. But who knows? In the end is not about labels, but about the songs. If the songs are bangers, it doesn't matter if they dress them in a more rock 'n' roll fashion or in a more punkrock one. The problem is that, for example, in the trilogy there were some really good tunes, but a pretty big amount of bland ones. Those would have been bland either if they were sounding punkier, so to speak. I'd say they fell into 'factory songs' mode. 1 Quote
Elisa Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 I think that when Billie Joe moved on from punk rock and the American Idiot sound, he wanted Green Day be like The Replacements, REM or The Stones (he loves these bands) but was never able to nail a particular sound. He really tried I think, but all efforts always seemed so generic and bland. I'll still check out the album when it comes out in January though. 1 1 Quote

I mean, when you are a band like Green Day, with a reallly bold stablished position based on a very specific scene and sound, is really hard to change that, as long as you're breaking your own 'lore' (as people say nowadays). Because, you know, there is a thin line between evolving your sound and ending up being a total different band. And I guess they see that as a menace for their career. In the end, fans' react, and that reaction can be really tough. Quote
Thibaut182 Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 Memories from New Year's Eve with the band back in 1998! ❤️ Hosted by Carson Daly and Jennifer Love Hewitt Quote
Monkey Chips Posted January 6, 2024 Posted January 6, 2024 New Green Day track dropped yesterday: Not sure how I feel about this, but I don't dislike so I guess that would make it 3/4 songs I like on the album so far (though I'm lukewarm on this track). 1 Quote
raw_sounds Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 I like the Bada Bing Bada booom new song. They seem to be getting lots of hate/love for a controversial live "Maga" lyric though... Quote
