boxelder Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 i'll be seeing them here at the ballpark in atlanta this summer and i'm very excited. i really liked parts of the new record. i love 1981, bobby sox feels like a lost '90s gem in the best way, dilemma is some of the best most honest songwriting billie joe has offered in a while, even american dream is killing me is enjoyable! i'm surprised they're doing a joint dookie/AI tour... looking backward isn't the type of thing they've done often. feels like a requirement or a way to move tickets, honestly. but i'll be more than fine with it! they put on such a great show, and it'll be fun to see old classics like burnout, coming clean, letterbomb, and whatsername for the first time. 1 1 Quote
Thibaut182 Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 New footage discovery! 11min footage of the band playing at the KROQ Weenie Roast has surfaced!!! This footage is dated 11th June 1994. Huge credits to markit aneight for sharing this insane footage! Quote
Jan Mortensen Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 I'm only a few songs in and I can say this is the most listenable Green Day album in a long time. I'm enjoying it. Sounds like their earlier stuff without trying too hard again. Feels more true to their natural selves. That irish punk rock vibe. Still suck live. Quote
Jan Mortensen Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Finished. I wouldn't say there were many memorable tracks or anything, but it was a very easy listen and a lot of head bobbing, authentic Green Day feel... just an easy listen. Probably my favorite since AI, since it simply didn't try that hard and was just pretty chill and good feels and I genuinely have not liked anything since AI so the bar was low (yes did not like 21st century either) Quote
Jan Mortensen Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 Oddly really like some of these songs: -Bobby Sox (feels like a prime someone song with green day not trying too hard again) -One Eyed Bastard (starts out like a Paramore song but then takes off into a pretty sick green day insomniac type song) -Dilemma (good chorus) -Corvette Summer (classic rock song but actually done well? Billie Joe sounds really good here) -Livin in the 20s (just good) -Father to a Son (good softer song) -Saviors (good title track song.. another throwback feeling without trying too hard) -Fancy Sauce (great, great song/closer, love the guitar & Billie's vocals) Hearing Green Day like this makes me pretty happy for some reason. Alkaline and Green Day so far with the comeback veteran albums, One More Time close follow up, but without the bias it's got some issues these two didn't have. 1 Quote
Maddey Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 Saw them the other day and they keep holding up. Sounding flawless, energy on top. Crazy to think first time I saw them was half my life ago. Fav band ever. 1 Quote
allsystemsgo Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 I dig it. I'm so used to the original so this is refreshing. Also anyone else see the Dookie Demastered thing they're doing? A lot of one of a kind items, but not enough of a fan for me to pay for the chance of winning. 1 Quote
Ghost Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 So is there an American Idiot demos release? Quote
Thibaut182 Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Had no idea that the song "Whatsername" has a unreleased music video. The song was supposed to be a single but at the end they scraped the idea of the single because it had been to long since the release of "American Idiot' Kelli Garner is the girl in the video who is also in the "Jesus of Suburbia" video! WOW! 4 Quote
thongrider Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Best song on the album. Sort of glad it wasn't over played like the rest of the singles. 2 Quote

allsystemsgo Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 I love it. The bit starting at 2:00 is my favorite. 1 Quote

Holy shit, it sounds like the core was basically a Tre Cool idea. What a mess. It's impressive how it turned out, to be honest. There's no way I'd be able to turn that original idea in the mini-opera it ended up being. I guess that's what a musician is made off. Quote
