I just can't stop hearing Coking the Clown by NOFX in that intro chord progression and it's bugging me so much.

Caved in and wanted to listen to one song before I check the whole album out tomorrow and chose this, fuck me this is epic. The chorus is fucking GOLD, the harmonies ffs. Intro, bridge and outro all great. I can’t believe they’ve wrote this in 2023.

Thanks pal. I’m going to listen about 1pm when the kids are in school and I’ll have a couple of hours to myself. It’s going to drag like fuck but like o said earlier I’ve got something to look forward too.

I love neighbourhoods but i remember not being that impressed when i first heard the album... this song alone is why i was disappointed as this is peak blink

Are you possibly in the wrong section and not meaning Anthem 3?

These verses sound nothing like Lifeforms, and exactly like old blink, the most old blink verses on the record arguably. Drums sound like California era if anything.

Terrified, however sounds exactly like Boxcar Racer.  Hurt, WWWY could sound like AvA mabye.  Little bit DWM *hide*

I said Lifeforms. The demo at 1:53 of this video. I am only referring to the very base of the song. Drums, rhythym, tempo sound very similar to the same base of the verses in anthem pt 3.

I see that now, I guess that makes more sense.  Similar-ish as far as AvA goes, but pretty common drum beat and just up tempo.  You can hear the differences when the lyrics come in though - most notably "I saw the fuuturre, it had so much potential!" is so AvA, and now the punk rock skater type vibe he went with on this track.  But I see what you are hearing now.

I'm not shocked or anything if they pulled out old workings into new blink songs. why not

Can’t believe Ghent fired the blasphemous to that comment. They’re clearly at least similar. They reworked the verse melody entirely, however the vocal cadence is a liiiiitle similar. And the underlying drums / rhythym are very similar. And they took out the synths obviously.

Oh was it misconstrued that I meant it sounded like something from Lifeforms in general? Not that I was referring to a specific demo? I specifically said the Lifeforms demo though so idk.

I don’t think it’s some random obscure coincidence though this demo is from his most recent sessions with Aaron, he was working on it in 2021. Just a few months before he started working on the new blink album mid 2022. If this was a long lost demo from early ava or something I would agree.
