Rickay Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 I love the use of ‘despair’ as a verb. Reminds me of Ozimandias. 1 Quote
Ghost Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 Lyrics are brutally amazing. Simple but so powerful. 3 Quote

All the Anthems are good, but that is what probably makes it the best of the 3 for me. Not to mention the great transitions throughout and love the longer intro instrumental/outro banger. Letting that guitar play out in the intro really feels like perfect blink comeback to me. 3 Quote
Scott. Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 Song gets me in my feels every fucking time. What a song ffs. The best anthem by far. 5 Quote

I’m still partial to Anthem because I’ve always loved it so much but Part 3 is a great, fast song with some very relatable and uplifting lyrics for people our age. 4 Quote

Anthem Part 2 is also pretty good (to me at least), but yeah AP3 is great. Quote

Yeah, the lyrics of Part 2 are what they are, but it's a great song and it always sounds awesome when they play it at their shows. 1 Quote
Jan Mortensen Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 I forgot how good the original Anthem was.. kind of skimmed past it for a good while. Aged beautifully. 1 1 Quote
Champ182 Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 This is a little corny but this song really hit me at the exact right time. I never expected Blink to help me view the world in a different way almost two decades after they stopped being a major influence in my life, but man they were right on time with this one. Without going into specifics, I have been in need of some uplift and encouragement, and this song just completely took me by surprise in the best way possible. This time, I won't be complacent The dreams I gave up and wasted A new high A new ride I'm on fire My old shit ends here tonight Fuck yeah 1 2 Quote
Jan Mortensen Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 All I know is they did about as good of a job as could imagined they’d do with a 3rd Anthem, if not better. I don’t think it’s fair to compare because such different times. The lyrics don’t bother me on the first two because those were it at the time and relevant to then. The only thing I can say is the digital drums compared to the first two is a noticeable set back, but the lyrics and overall structure of the song are as good if not better. Anthem 1 is super classic and original. Anthem 2 kicks ton of ass, goat bass line. Anthem 3 carries on the trend perfectly with an unexpected outro. 1 Quote
b00bies Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 Knowing that it took them one day to write AP3, imagine what could have been if they spent 2 days on it lol Quote

I am pretty sure Aaron Rubin said it in his interview with Rybread. Seems they wrote all their best material in a short amount of time. Makes sense why Untitled album is so Lackluster, they took too much time on it Quote

Jan Mortensen Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 Anthem - 9/10. The simplicity and effortlessness of this track, with notes of both Dude Ranch seeping through and the new ear of Enema, with Jerry Finn's excellent production makes this a classic. It's aged like fine wine. Listening to the instrumental, that beautiful vintage blink guitar after the chorus and on the bridge, and the final explosion of Tom's "I, Time-Bomb" hits home even at the ripe of age of 30. (I truly love this song all a sudden). Strength: Amazing chorus and outro. Weakness: I wish my friends were 21 Anthem pt. 2 - 8.9/10. Another classic from Blink's catalogue. The infamous intro introducing one of blink's best bass lines, and killer guitar throughout. The chorus (IMHO) grows a little more tiresome than the other two, but the carry over to live, and the unforgettable intro make this an all-time great as well. TOYPAJ wouldn't be the same without it. Strength: Intro guitars/bass. Mark's "ahh-ahh-ahhh" Outro. Weakness: Kids don't vote, adults elect them. Kids are victims in this story. Anthem pt. 3 - 8.9/10. A return to form. The melodic and extended intro, the vintage-yet aged Tom vocals, one of Mark's nastiest lines, and then the beautiful chorus and unforgettable Outro. Strengths: Lyrics. Guitar rhythms. Changeups. One of blink's best chorus in ages. Weakness: Digital drum sound. Didn't play live in full at Denny's. 1 Quote
Champ182 Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 I was over Anthem Pt. 2 for a long time, but the magic of watching the Coachella comeback performance made me love it more than ever. 1 Quote
