Hey, I'm back.

I think Terrified verses are potentially the best thing on the album.  I've given it lots of thought.

The chorus is definitely good as hell, but I don't think they compare to the verses.  They are really moving. 

The bridge is the best thing Travis did on the album too probably.

I love that this song exists on here.  I have no qualms of it being a BCR song.

Anybody else not put much stock into the BCR thing? It’s a cool backstory and all, but BCR had been defunct for like 17 years by the time Tom and Travis were starting to mess around with the song. I get why they were considering it a BCR idea at that time since Tom wasn’t in Blink, but once he rejoined I feel like it consequently became a Blink song… haha. Do you guys consider it some separate thing on the album?

I feel like the whole bcr thing lost its weight when they said it wasn’t from 2001/2 for those same reasons. Don’t really think of it as a boxcar song when it wasn’t written during that OG boxcar period. It’s more of just a heavier Ava song. Then became a blink song when they all worked on it.

If it was a song from back in the day then I could get behind the whole idea of mark letting the past be the last thing and having a boxcar song be on the album etc.

I agree. The backstory, as you said, is cool and I believe it. I really think they though about it as an BCR song. But I highly doubt it would have been released under BCR name. I don't think Travis would liked that, considering there was, in fact, bad blood between Mark and Tom (as they confirmed in Lowe's interview). So Travis being part of a BCR resurrection would have been a potential huge earthquake for blink at that time. Can you imagine Mark being upset with Tom and then Travis collaborating with Tom? No way. That would have been a punch in the face for Mark. To sum it up: they thought about it as a BCR song? Yeah, probably for fun, and as long as Tom worked with Travis on it and not with AvA. Would they ever release it as an BCR song? Nope. No way. I can't picture that.

That said, I love it. I love Terrified. But yeah, is a blink song, and sounds as BCR as some AvA songs and even some Neighborhoods riffs sound too. In the end, is Tom's song, it is his thing, you know. So makes sense. Also, and in fact, lots of first AvA album could have been blink songs. Like without any question: Start The Machine, The War, The Adventure, It Hurts... I remember Mark even saying somewhere that in that record Tom used some ideas that were going to be used for blink (I assume, Tom presented those ideas to Travis and Mark back in the day before they split for the first time).

BCR was an unique record. I don't think Tom would be able to recapture those feelings and mood again. Ever. It was a perfect photography of his situation, feelings and thoughts at that very concrete moment. That's what makes it so special and good.

Yeah I fucking love the song, the verses are beautiful, it's just rad all around. And if I never heard the backstory I probably would've been like "holy shit this song sounds like BCR!!" haha. But to me it's a Blink song the same as all the others on the album.

It feels more in vein with Obvious for me than Boxcar.  But yeah, the whole Boxcar thing more just feels like "this isn't a song Mark would normally be on, and it's sweet that he is" and no it doesn't feel separate, but yes it does feel like another spice to the album of combining all their pasts into one conglomerate of their styles.

I feel like it is a BCR song considering back in 2001 when Tom was writing and recording that album, it was just himself working on the songs

At the same time, Tom was the same with AVA until Ilan came on board. It sounds to me that Tom just wanted to recapture that BCR sound with Travis. It would've been cool to have a BCR release in 2018-2019 whatever year they started working on it

I was surprised to hear the synths in the verses when I first heard the song considering this was supposed to be a BCR song. Massive AVA vibes during those parts, especially in the second verse

I don't think it's worth separating blink songs into AvA, BCR +44

They are all the same organization

 

Terrified is just another blink song that kinda sound like BCR, like Obvious, Down. Just like BCR had songs that sounded blinky: And I, Elevator, All Sistems go (Chorus has a 2nd voice that sounds quite like Mark).
