One More Time… Official Discussion (Constant Tug and Nut)

Travis and Feldmann are what ruined Blink 182 though, not Mark (although he let it happen and is being stubborn/jaded about it), cringey-TTS Tom, or Skiba.

Those two wanted to sell it out to formulaic nonsense, where the reunion probably would have happened either way.  Then Travis got aggressive about keeping the Feldmann approach.  Luckily Tom was eager enough to throw down some cool shit/perform fun again to balance that out.

Neighborhoods had a lot of feel good songs. The kind where you can go for a nice drive and space out looking through the window.  Ghost On The Dancefloor, Everytime She Falls, Wishing Well, This is Home. Just smooth on the ear and very well done.  (Although Fell In Love and Blink Wave have a bit of that energy too)

With One More Time i end up looking at where I’m driving.

I keep hearing Fell in Love on the radio in the wild and I’m always shocked but it also makes me happy. Italy is a crazy place, they’ve been playing this song on the radio since October 2023, it’s got more airtime than Feeling This 😂

Said this on another thread but childhood has such a nostalgic special feeling for me. The closer to the first album back with Tom when I never thought we would see them together again. OMT smashed expectations for me and that outro with the game boy type sound and Travis drumming will forever be imprinted in my mind.

Yea I love Childhood and what they went for there, especially the ending is superb.  I just cannot listen to it because the chorus feels super loud and skipping or whatever like a giant explosion not in a good way.  But the song itself is sweet.  Love the trade offs too, just wish the chorus was fixed (and those autotune dips)

childhood is underrated. the verse melody, likely pitched by brian lee (one of the songwriters), doesn't sound at all like something they would naturally write themselves. i think some of the lyrics are goofy (Why is everyone afraid to be themselves, not imitate?) and some feel revelatory (I'd never thought we'd end up here / We're back in time to the best years). but i do like that the guitar parts use more unusual chords than they typically employ, and i really really like the chiptune outro -- it's something NEW, something they've never done. the distorted, wall-of-sound chorus is somewhat grating but feels intentional in a big-brained way. the drum outro is also a little too derivative of i'm lost without you but i kind of like the way it dovetails with the 8-bit synth stuff. childhood underrated!

I love the use of the word underrated here.  Perfectly said.  It's just the grating production for me on the chorus makes it hard to listen to, everything is so loud.  The song itself is super cool, Mark's voice sounds super cool here, almost get a Damon Albarn vibe, which Mark sounds good at.  It is a song you never could picture them making in 1,000 years gives it an extra boost to me.

the outro will always stick with me, I remember where I was listening to it on repeat the first few times. Looking up at the sun, it fit perfectly.

Childhood on Pt. 2 level production would be super satisfying.
