It seems pretty commonplace these days to release some kind of deluxe or remix. Charli xcx just released a remix of the album she dropped back at the beginning of the summer. My guess it’s just to get the streams up?

Yeah, I know before Tom rejoined blink, the Angels camp was talking about putting out a deluxe album for Lifeforms. Not sure that's going to happen at this point since Lifeforms came out so long ago now so if Tom and his Angels are sitting on some AvA songs then they might as well just carry that over to a fresh new AvA album or bring those song idea to blink to be reworked to something better.

Albums have so much less staying power nowadays compared to when we were young because they're more in your face in terms of sound and because of the amount of access we have to music (at the end we will always go back to the old stuff we love) and it's not OMT that is bad - it's a really good album - but you just can't compare an album that came out in 2023 with an album that came out when you were 20 years old and with 13 years of memories attached to it.

I feel this with almost any kind of media.  The thing with music really hit me once Spotify started.

I used to love going to the record store/online and buying physical cd's or LP's and listening to them and really understanding them, I have a huge collection but blink is the only band I actually buy the physical media anymore just as a collector of the band.

Maybe having access to all of this music is a good thing, but it killed it for me.  Or it might just be my depression in general.

If you’re depressed I recommend listening to Angels & Airwaves. Truly uplifting music that is ahead of its time.

I kinda wished they didn't bother with Part 2, none of the songs have any staying power for me and it's quite easy to see why none of them made part 1. Same goes for the bonus tracks.

Less is more sometimes, should have just stuck with the original 15 tracks, most of which I still really like.

I actually prefer a few of them to a good chunk of the initial release tbh

Not all are great, most of the latter half are trash but there’s some good stuff there

Burning CDs definitely had a little bit more stake in the game than creating quick playlists with no limitations.

It’s hard to look at a ‘CD’ the same way in Spotify for me.  I can still get into an album, but it’s nowhere as invested as getting the physical album and needing to go play it somewhere.

Coight ruined vinyls for me so just stuck on Spotify now.

I saw that vinyl sales dipped by 33% yesterday. Are all the hipsters going broke?

I'm looking at an EP I wanna buy right now and I'm not sure if I'll get the vinyl or cd. I'll see in a few weeks and see if it's sold out so I don't need to choose.

They're too expensive and the market has probably overestimated its value.

It’s weird I never got in to them. I’m all about high quality sound systems. But my vizio sound bar with a subwoofer sounds good enough for me that I was too lazy to ever go down that road lol

I'd have to find them, but there are a few studies which have demonstrated that music we hear as a teenagers and young aged individuales is the music that stay with us forever. Nothing after that has the same staying power, and it's something related to the 'groing up' thing along with the music we are surrounded of in the process during that period, in which we are settling ourselves as individuals.

I believe that all day. Although there have gotta be exceptions. I didn’t start listening to Social Distrption until I was like 33, and it’s like I’ve known them forever. Maybe the fact their music already existed when I was young has something to do with it.

My rule is usually if something is recorded for cd buy the cd and if it's made for vinyl buy the vinyl.

So in other words if recorded with analog and real musicians go vinyl, if recorded lazily with computers and pro tools doing all the work buy the CD lol

The fuck did I do?

I even brought back burning CD’s m8. Remember when Bluetooth broke in my car and I burnt a bunch of CDs?

Of course, I also think there's room for impact after that.

‘If you never left’ might still be one of my favourite songs from this whole era. It’s almost perfect 2024 blink.

It really is a great song. I love that keyboard/synth part at the very end. I can’t tell if it’s layered across the whole song but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was. I’d love to hear someone play a longer version of that on piano or keyboard

Remember your epic meltdown about 2000s music being just as good as CDs quality were even though you were blatantly wrong and wanted to just be stubborn about it?  I can never look at my little record player the same way again without your vibe ruining it.
