It’s almost perfect 2024 blink. That one doesn’t work for me at all. Not sure why. I have been obsessed with Every Other Weekend and no one seems to care for it much haha 1 1 Quote

I can never look at my little record player the same way again without your vibe ruining it. All I remember is you saying out loud that you’ve never had sex with a woman. It came out of nowhere but certainly explained a lot. 2 Quote

Coddled Egg Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 I honestly don’t think I’ve even listened to Every Other Weekend yet. Pretty sure I watched my boy Littleredguitar2 cover it on YouTube and never listened to the song. Quote
Coddled Jan Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 Every Other Weekend is good, it just sounds touched up quite a bit and not 100% like blink. Idk, I'm gonna stay on this hill about rather hearing some grungy shitty Up All Night guitar riffs knowing it's 100% Tom and Mark dinking around in the studio vs some others. The song itself is honestly like an A though, it's catchy, aesthetically pleasing, nice instrumental all around. Like those Mark versus do not even sound like Mark to me - either production or what. It's too jarring to me. One Night Stand sounds like some AvA one off song but with Mark & Travis (great), EE sounds like Tom going all out with that end part and the themes (great), Can't Go Back sounds like an actual proper Mark pop song he's been wanting (jarring robotic vocal shit though, again). AIMH and No Fun are just solid jams but a little forgettable. TMI still sucks. That's my final review. Probably won't hear from me ever again. Oh and See You, CMO never happened and were just quick turd drops to boost album sales. 1 Quote

allsystemsgo Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 No Fun, IYNL, and TMI are the only ones I come back to. Everything else on PT. 2 can go. Quote

If you listen to it right before blink wave its fun as hell. I like “blinks occasionally 80s” moments haha 2 Quote

Nothing after that has the same staying power, and it's something related to the 'groing up' thing along with the music we are surrounded of in the process during that period, in which we are settling ourselves as individuals. Yeah, I heard about this in an episode of Criminal Minds ages ago 😂 it's true that I can't fall in love with music they way I did when I was in my teenage years up until my mid-20s. Of course there are new bands I've discovered in the last 10 years that I love, but I usually give the their albums I like a few listens, and if I REALLY REALLY like them, then I listen to them for a couple of weeks or a month but then I move to the next thing. The truth is I always tend to go back to old stuff I love. Or like it happened to Diddy, I got into a lot of new-to-me music. Music that's always been there but I never got a chance to explore better before. 3 Quote
Champ182 Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 I'm really surprised that Blink Wave is so polarizing. I think it's great, it's like a spiritual successor to Always. I agree with @Kay and @boxelder that modern Blink reallyyy shines when they bring in their 80s new wavey influences. I think it's a perfect touch to combine with their pop punk roots to keep things fresh and creative. Blink Wave, Every Other Weekend, One Night Stand, and Can't Go Back all have that feel in my opinion, and those are 4 of my favorites of this era. 3 Quote
Champ182 Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 In fact, I'm really surprised that there's much polarization about this era or the new music at all! Haha. I certainly don't love everything they've put out so far, but the ratio for me is skewed WAYYY in the positive direction, and that's something I never expected to experience again. Songs I love and go back to often: Anthem III Dance With Me Terrified One More Time* (music video needed) More Than You Know When We Were Young You Don't Know What You've Got Blink Wave Bad News Turpentine Other Side Can't Go Back Every Other Weekend If You Never Left One Night Stand Songs I like enough to enjoy when they're on: Edging Hurt Fuck Face Childhood Everyone Everywhere No Fun Songs that don't do it for me: Fell In Love Turn This Off Cut Me Off See You All In My Head Take Me In If you would've told me at the time of the reunion that we'd get 27 new songs over the next two years, and 21/27 would be worthy additions that fit right into the heart of the Blink catalog, I would've wept with joy haha. Yeah the mixing is a bummer in a lot of places, yada yada yada, I'm still just purely enjoying all of this crazy era. 2 Quote
Coddled Jan Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 Blink Wave is literally a dog poop compared to Always, please don’t. 1 Quote
