In fact, I'm really surprised that there's much polarization about this era or the new music at all! Haha. I certainly don't love everything they've put out so far, but the ratio for me is skewed WAYYY in the positive direction, and that's something I never expected to experience again.

Songs I love and go back to often:

  1. Anthem III
  2. Dance With Me
  3. Terrified
  4. One More Time* (music video needed)
  5. More Than You Know
  6. When We Were Young
  7. You Don't Know What You've Got
  8. Blink Wave
  9. Bad News
  10. Turpentine
  11. Other Side
  12. Can't Go Back
  13. Every Other Weekend
  14. If You Never Left
  15. One Night Stand

Songs I like enough to enjoy when they're on:

  1. Edging
  2. Hurt
  3. Fuck Face
  4. Childhood
  5. Everyone Everywhere
  6. No Fun

Songs that don't do it for me:

  1. Fell In Love
  2. Turn This Off
  3. Cut Me Off
  4. See You
  5. All In My Head
  6. Take Me In

If you would've told me at the time of the reunion that we'd get 27 new songs over the next two years, and 21/27 would be worthy additions that fit right into the heart of the Blink catalog, I would've wept with joy haha. Yeah the mixing is a bummer in a lot of places, yada yada yada, I'm still just purely enjoying all of this crazy era.

when we were young is such a fantastic blink song, theres that emotinal power in that chorus vocal from tom its like hes forcing it to fit in but its what also makes it sound so cut trough and taking

im bothered by now more talking about how great that one is, lyrics r great 2

Permaskip for me, the awkward syllable smashing of the chorus is off putting and the verses are boring AF.

Agreed.  I love the song or what it's going for by Tom, but this ruins it a bit for me every time.  Shit hurts to listen to (physically, not emotionally).

Love this idea!

Songs I love and have gone back to often enough:

  1. Anthem III (2 Dbs down on the drums to being a perfect song)
  2. Turpentine
  3. Terrified
  4. Turn This Off! (does not get enough love for what it is)
  5. Everyone Everywhere (amazing amazing ending)
  6. You Don't Know What You've Got (still an underrated classic)
  7. Other Side (production ruins but too good of a song to hate)
  8. Can't Go Back (robot Mark and all)
  9. One Night Stand (goat song)

Songs I like enough to enjoy when they're on:

  1. Edging (+ music video for me, good times)
  2. Dance With Me (it's fine)
  3. More Than You Know
  4. Bad News
  5. Fuck Face
  6. If You Never Left
  7. Every Other Weekend
  8. When We Were Young
  9. No Fun
  10. All In My Head

Songs that don't do it for me:

  1. Fell In Love (it's okay, but they needed to cut songs on this album)
  2. One More Time* (music video was fun for a minute)
  3. Childhood (production ruins)
  4. Cut Me Off (trash)
  5. Blink Wave (eeh)
  6. See You (trash)
  7. Take Me In (no comment)

Now to compare..

Songs I love and still go back to, to this day:

  1. Natives
  2. Kaleidoscope
  3. When I Was Young
  4. Wishing Well
  5. Even If She Falls
  6. Ghosts On The Dance Floor
  7. After Midnight (holy shit this aged better than I remembered)
  8. Snake Charmer

Songs that I still love but don't really listen to much anymore:

  1. Dogs Eating Dogs
  2. After Midnight
  3. Up All Night
  4. Hearts All Gone
  5. HAG Interlude
  6. MH 4.18.2011
  7. Love Is Dangerous
  8. Fighting The Gravity

Okay:

  1. This Is Home
  2. Disaster
  3. Pretty Little Girl

I'd say Turpentine, One Night Stand are as good as anything on NH though.  Maybe Everyone Everywhere too.  OMT production is a bit too harsh otherwise.  Fucking Travis, A3 would be close to the best song they've ever written.  It just limits the replayability.  OMT is probably better after a couple drinks, NH is better sober or when just chillin.

Songs will still listen to on occasion:

  1. Violence
  2. Rollercoaster
  3. Strings
  4. GMOGR (hey, all the hate made it better to revisit)
  5. Please Take Me Home (favorite TOYPAJ song)

Luckily I have you on mute.  Now stop being a dumbass.

PS I watched a Goff interview yesterday on late night ESPN, it was pretty good.  He's very chill.

lol he’s extremely even keeled. He doesn’t get flustered when things don’t go well and he doesn’t sniff his own farts when he’s kicking ass

Yeah he was just like chillin in his bedroom, no glits or glamour or anything after leading the league in all these categories.  Looks like was about to head to the gas station to meet Dan for a couple glizzys in a half hour as well.

#respect

so the opposite of the quiefs.

So a while back I took my preferred tracks from the full release and made a playlist.

I am so damn glad I did because that playlist has become a mainstay for me and has made me appreciate the record a whole lot more.

Now that I can be a driving human (woohoo) I listened to the full 15 track playlist twice yesterday driving to and from my sisters flat.

It was just freakin’ nice. There are songs on there that I wasn’t super hype on originally but in the context of a bunch of songs I dig they have a new lease on life, and I just like them all a bit more than I did before.

I don’t think that would have happened without the new 8 - I only like 5 of them but thrown in with the others makes a much better experience.

So yeah, I am having a lil resurgence of love for this record, by cutting out essentially half of it haha
