boxelder Posted February 4 Posted February 4 i feel like blink wave (despite its goofy title) really delivers. as others have said, i've always loved when the band embraces their new wave influences. the melody is fresh, the bridge is killer, and the synths being turned all the way up rock. it DOES feel like a retread of always though, but it largely stands on its own! 2 Quote

Yeah its fun, vibey, Mark sounds class on it. The chorus is a bit too repetitive but apart from that it slaps. 4 Quote

Centrist_Jans Cookbook Posted February 4 Posted February 4 You Don’t Know What You’ve Got triggers the try hards that developed during the Cali Deluxe/Nine cycle where Skibs dark nature really started to creep into the band. Facts. One does not simply need more than Tom belting a chorus on a sick Mark personal track. The simple chorus juxtapositions Mark’s heavy & deeper writing. How does this go over LV simps heads. Blink wave sounds like another pre-written cover song with tragic production. Don’t get me heated this evening. 3 Quote

For year and years I’ve not once heard or seen anybody refer to Descendents as New Wave until thong wants to play contrarian. Funny how that works out, lol. Quote
boxelder Posted February 4 Posted February 4 45 minutes ago, Can Jans Plan said: What new wave influences? lol when did they ever talk about new wave bands? they didn't talk it up a lot in the 90s, but they mentioned it a lot during the 03-04 era, especially mark's well-documented love of the cure (which far predates the band). travis outright says "new wave bands like missing persons" in the untitled CD booklet. you hear it a lot in the angels & airwaves stuff which is frighteningly indebted to U2. 2 Quote
